Lots of Talent and needs. Nobody knows what Caserio is thinking. They're in info shutdown mode over on Kirby.
Your right, there is good depth. All the current Texans RB's are on a one year contract, which is a big indicator that a RB is getting drafted. I think this is Mixon's last year. The Texans need to find a feature back and not just a situational back. The RB's I mentioned earlier are special and won't last till the third round.
I happen to think there are going to be a few really good 3 down RB's in this draft that will be available in the 3rd. Unless you dont like guys like Achane. Mixon has another year after this year.
I'm not against adding a RB, but it's past time to fix the OL with some great young talent like Rd. 1 Banks/Zabel/Jackson in Rd 1 and Ratledge/Milum on day 2. Then get a WR and a RB in rd 3. Maybe move up into the bottom of the 2nd to add a WR. That's definitely more of a need than RB IMHO. Give me a WR like Kyle Williams in the 2nd and a RB like Sampson, Johnson or Martinez in the 3rd over Judkins/ Henderson. They're all talented RB's. Maybe I'm just tired of seeing poor and flat out dumb OL play and it sure would be nice to get a TE that gave a crap about blocking.
Pressure ca be an absolute bit**. It’s easy for us to sit here and say you can get through it. Some people just cannot. It’s a terrible situation all the way around.
Burden was used quite differently in 2023 and showed he knows how to run routes. He's pretty hard to get on the ground and is electric with the ball in his hands. I like him a lot and he's worthy of pick 1-25. He's the kind of dynamic player who's a threat to score anytime he touches the ball that the Texans offense has been missing. There will be some really good OL there in Rd. 2 if they miss out on Zabel/Banks etc...
Draft 1-25 Burden that solves the Slot WR issue although I think Kirk has already solved that issue. Both Burden who's 6'0 206 lbs and Kirk can play outside or the slot. Problem solved 2-58 Tate Ratledge Tough nasty 3 yr starter. Tested out as one of the most athletic OG's in years. I would trade up for him. 3-89 Terrance Ferguson TE Oregon. I think you can win a SB with an offense like this. WR's Nico/Kirk/Burden/Metchie TE's Schultz/Ferguson/Stover/Jordan OT's Robinson/Fisher (Who I expect a lot of improvement from) Howard/Brown and a late rd flier on a guy like Jaylen Travis. OG's Ratledge/Ingram at RG and let Howard/Scruggs/Tomlinson fight it out for the LG spot. Mixon/Pierce/Jarquez Hunter/Dare. CJ/Mills
Mixon and Brooks have two years left. But as usual, you have to know the details of the contracts to know whether these effectively control the players or the teams.
Eww. No thanks. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/texans/article/nfl-draft-kelvin-banks-houston-20271136.php Round 1, No. 19, Kelvin Banks, OL, Texas — Mock trade: Texans send No. 25, No. 79 and a 2026 second-round pick (from WAS) to the Buccaneers for No. 19 and a 2026 third-round pick. Yeah... that would be giving up way too much to move 6 spots IMHO. I like Donovan Jackson & he should be there at 25. Heck... he should be there until the 40's
NFL Tankathon https://www.tankathon.com/nfl/mock_draft 25. OT- Josh Simmons 58. WR- Elic Ayomanor 79. IOL- Tate Ratledge 89. CB- Jacob Parrish
Love those pics. Not sure why teams are sleeping on Tate. Dude was a monster in the best conference in football.
This is where I'm at... we can get into the weeds on specific positions of busts and failures, but this FO has earned my trust. That is what I told myself going into last years draft, it helped me cope with not understanding the Lassiter pick and they have earned even more trust.
