Your link is broken. True story, though.

After seeing how the Ivy League Schools are treating Jewish students they should be put on notice.

BTW, Tell me where the USA world standing was before the DOE vs what our standing is now. I dont know what they're going to do with education but it's past time to try something new or just go back to what they were doing pre DOE.

How dare you come into our country illegally and commit violence on our people? You are poisoning the blood of our nation.

We are going to ship you to meet President Bukakake and not to have dinner.

I think the Trump administration's intent is to dismantle the existing education system so that they can remake it in their image. And to do this, they're going to use various means to "defund" schools and universities. Scaring/chasing away foreign students, who usually pay full tuition, will probably have a long-term financial impact, as well.

What I don't get is what exactly is the Trump administration's endgame here. Is it to privatize the education system so that they and their cohorts can profit more from it? Or is it to make sure that the "proper" ideology is being taught to the next generation?

My uninformed gut tells me it's a mixture of both, though when push comes to shove, the former will take precedence.

The federal Department of Education was originally formed in 1867 by Andrew Jackson.

I'm pretty sure it was formed under the Carter administration. (Google says Oct. 17th 1979) Regardless it's not working and it's past time for change.
