The first step in fixing the problem is being mature enough to discuss it. Sounds like you guys just aren't ready... which, again, is a pity, because children are suffering. We need to face facts and make clear-headed decisions based on facts. Sometimes that's painful, but it's really the only way to bring on improvement. My goal would be improvement. GOOD DAY
This aloof, stand offish method is why democrat based racism is so bad today. They are emboldened by the other side taking the high road while they act out their violent urges whenever a perceived microaggression comes their way. Mr Scarface will burn down a Wendy's before having a difficult conversation because he's been told he's forever a victim. Grow a spine and be vocal about it.
Fascist was the most misused word for a long time, but now self-defense is starting to claim the top spot.
I guess letting Joe Horn and George Zimmerman murder people and use it as a defense wasn't such a good idea Rocket River It's amazing how something becomes a problem with some people only have it happens in an instance that they don't agree with it.
I didn't agree with the Joe Horn outcome, the Grand Jury applied the Castle Doctrine way too overbroadly IMO. I didn't agree with Zimmerman outcome either, although that was a little more nuanced so I could see the jury going Zimmerman's way, but I still think they got it wrong. With respect to self-defense, the MPC provides: "The use of deadly force is not justifiable under this Section unless the actor believes that such force is necessary to protect himself against death, serious bodily harm, kidnapping or sexual intercourse compelled by force or threat; nor is it justifiable if . . . the actor knows that he can avoid the necessity of using such force with complete safety by retreating . . ." Castle Doctrine does not apply since he was at a school event, and there is no whiff of justification for use of deadly force. His life was not threatened, he could have just walked away. I am hearing a lot of low info folks say "but he warned him not to touch him," that does not mean it's knife time. Only thing that might work in this kid's favor is youth and immaturity, but the letter of the law says he murdered him.
Glad you agree how the application of the law is very selective based on the person doing it Rittenhouse was able to use Self Defense . . .and he had an Assualt Rifle and travel miles and miles to put himself in the situation Rocket River
Joe Horn was defending against two burglars who broke into a home and then advanced into his yard. George Zimmerman was defending his community against a highly aggressive person (Trayvon Martin) who punched him in the face and slammed his head against the pavement. At the time, Martin had been suspended from school for drugs. Both Horn and Zimmerman were defending their LIVES. In the case of the track meet stabbing murder, Karmelo Anthony murdered Austin Metcalf, an exemplary student, over a seat. Anthony then dishonorably ran away. These cases are in no way similar, and I'd expect Anthony to be convicted of murder. Unless he gets a 75% black jury, like OJ did.... which seems unlikely in Frisco, TX.
Is a hate crime designation attached to this murder? I'd hope so. Certainly would be if the rare case of a white person killing a black person were the situation. But for Karmelo Anthony to sit in the opponents section, refuse a request to leave, and then yell "MAKE ME" to Metcalf -- sounds like this troubled youth was looking for a fight. Bringing a knife to a track meet further bolsters that point. He'll have decades in prison to consider it. Very bad jurisdiction for him at a trial in conservative FRISCO -- they won't fall for the typical race card defense.
@pgabriel @Salvy Apparently we have people on the thread who instantly thinks Tiger Woods isn’t Black anymore
According to testimony, Martin was on top of him, pummeling him with his fists and slamming his head into the pavement. His life was definitely on the line.
I think it depends on intent. He killed him because they got into a foolish altercation. You're assuming that he wouldn't have done this to anyone and I think law enforcement would have a hard time proving that
I would be the first to admit there is a problem with young black males and violent crime and Democrats ignore it. That being said this is what we know as of now in this case https://www.fox4news.com/news/frisco-track-meet-stabbing-karmelo-anthony-fundraiser They were sitting there, and someone was behind them mouthing off, and they turned around and said, ‘Who are you?’ And he said, ‘I’m Melo.’ And they said, ‘Well, you don’t belong here. You don’t go to Memorial.’ He had a Centennial tracksuit on. They said, ‘Well, you need to leave. This ain’t your spot,’" Jeff Metcalf said. "And some words were discussed that I’m not gonna say on camera but he asked him to leave, and he basically said, ‘Make me.’ And then he wound up stabbing him in the heart and killing him all over someone sitting in the wrong spot at a track meet
