Anybody else concerned that on a team with a bunch of playoff naive players, they'll have hit their stride a bit too late in the post season? Not complaining about the legit injuries, but resting so many starters is a bit ballsy. In stone and Ime we trust though
@LosPollosHermanos nice to see you posting. it definitely crossed my mind as a concern. But given that most of our success is predicated on defensive effort and the toll that takes on players to sustain that, I’m glad we are getting extended rest. I also think the defensive exertion impacts our shooting. With Fred and Amen coming off injuries, I like that they aren’t playing. I don’t like to risk injuries right before the playoffs in meaningless games, and I’d rather our guys are over-rested than worn out as we enter the post season. Hopefully their batteries are fully charged from the time off. But it’s definitely worth flagging. It does feel like a mini-hiatus when u consider the gap with the play-in. Hopefully there’s no rust.
Winning and putting in effort is a habit and resting the players certainly has a negative impact on it. But even if you put in the players, they are probably not going to play their regular game because they know the injury risk and this is their first playoff experience. So yes there is a downside to resting but you don't really have much of an alternative.
Agreed, and its hard to criticize team leadership when they've pulled all the right triggers to get the team to this point. They're definitely far more privvy into Amen and FVV's health than we are. I hope they bring them back for short bursts the last 1 or 2 games though
Probably but it is the Laker crowd, they are not playing in front of their fans ....they don't owe it to the Laker fans. Overdoing it, rest like 2 players instead of 5.
Ordinarily I would agree, but this team has a good track record of playing well when rested. It also avoids potential for random injuries like sprained ankles and broken fingers that seem to keep happening to our high-effort players.
We play hard defense all season long so I think it's ok for them to have a rest for a few games, they earned it. Maybe the starters should warm up in the last game a bit, just a bit, to get the feeling, then we will be fine in the playoff. Even If we don't do well in the playoff, I won't blame it on load management, it's really a minor issue.
Absolutely. I hate it. I get resting for the last game. Maybe last 2. But these guys need reps in big games and all three of these last three games are basically playoff games for the other team.
Playoffs is about practice and preparation. Them resting regular season games shouldn't get in the way of the first round grind. Even if they a give a few games to rust, they have to learn what it means to be a no. 2 seed.
I don’t mind load management but I do hate throwing the game purposely without even planning to win with what players we have em on the court. What a waste of opportunity of showing what kind of offense scheme we can run as Cam and Reed as our focal point of offense
Our fanbase always finds something to complain about. We need to trust that our 52 win coach will have our players ready to play. I’ve already said it before that our hustle play style drains a ton of energy and our players haven’t had any rest since the All-Star break. It also doesn’t make sense to reveal any potential playoff strategies in meaningless games. If one of our starters were to re-aggravate any injuries in these meaningless games the fanbase would riot against Ime.
I don't hate it. Anytime I get annoyed about the Rockets losing these last two games, I think back to when Amen sprained his ankle trying to get a triple double when the Rockets were up 35 points over the Pelicans halfway through the 4th quarter.
just give them a half before the regular season ends. there really hasn't been much to complain about this season. We have been lucky on so many things. i hope it continues.
Did some of you forgot Amen’s injury vs. Pelicans? When he got to play late in the 4th so he can grab another rebound for a triple-double? Most of us were furious about this injury and didn’t understand how Ime agreed for letting Amen pursue this TD. So.. why risking our guys in those final games? I guess If we secured our spot with like 5+ games left, I agree that resting all of our main guys for such a duration would risk them in being rusty. But I think that 3 missing games is OK. Especially after we beat the Warriors, man it was a great W!
Starter will probably play one half on Sunday. Then we are off for a week. So I don't have a problem with that.
This. I think Lebron also got injured thats why he lost his 25 pt streak. Yet people still think its good to see starters play a meaningless game? We know Adams, Amen and Eason play hard and are susceptible to injuries. Its better to be over rested than risk injury. Playoffs are a 7 game affair any rust is gone from the first game. There is also the tactical aspect to consider the more we play the more tape opponents have against us. If they dont see us for two weeks that just a gap in their intel. Finally our first round opponent just got mad tired playing hard to end the season and also having a play in. Its better to be healthy and over rested vs the opponent who been thru the ringer for the last month.
With the play in games you already will get a full week off, so they are essentially getting two full weeks off. It does seem like they could come out rusty, no other top team is doing this. OKC has been bringing their full lineup, Cleveland is only resting Donovan.
To all those who believe these last 2 and Sunday are meaningless, I will see you once we face the Clippers in round 1 or Lakers in the 2nd.
u can look at it this way, less game tape/film for our playoff opponents. The clippers, nuggets and lakers will gleam nothing watching film of reed and whitmore
