A manufacturing powerhouse built on slave labor.

An inability to innovate replaced by constant theft of American Intellectual Property, as highlighted by Democrat and Republicans alike.

A lack of sentient understanding by eating dogs and cats.

Joining the WTO to not follow any of it's rules? Because... no one does cheap goods like us. (Article by liberal thinkthank)

“I was convinced at the time that China needs to be part of the rules-based trading system in that it would accrue to the benefit of the U.S. in a significant way over time,” Brady told reporters Tuesday. “Now it’s clear China had no intention of living within a rules-based trading system.”

They concede neither the WTO nor the U.S. government was equipped for China’s combination of relentless exploitation of WTO loopholes with a willful disregard of WTO rules

It's time someone with a spine took a stand. Thank you President Trump for doing what so many politicians talked about, but never had the courage to do. We're long overdue for a reset.

As a Chinese person, I find such remarks deeply regrettable. Thankfully, we don"t have to kiss Mr. Trump"s ass.

    In China...
    A farm produces cotton.
The cottong gets shipped to a factory, where it's turned into fabric.
The fabric is shipped to a factory where it is cut, sewn to be a T-shirt, and packaged
The shirt gets shipped around the world to the US where it gets received and shipped to a warehouse.
The shirt gets shipped to a store like Wal-mart where it gets sold for $10

...and everybody in that chain made profit. So much profit, in fact, that they do it over and over again, millions of times.

The reason there is profit there is because China does not adhere to any employment or environmental constraints. They employ anyone, including children and slaves, and pay them almost nothing. Their factories belch filth into the air with no concern or restraint.

You can own products that are mass-produced in China.
Or you can claim to care about the environment and human rights (fair wages, safe working environment, and child & slave labor)

    .....but you can't do both.

Trump should wack China with 1000 percent tariffs. Payback is a biitch. This is for giving the world Covid and just being an ******* to the whole world period. Their killing, cheating, lying, stealing, spying days are numbered. The Chinese villagers will take their torches to the Chinese Frankenstein because they’re starving. Winnie The Pooh is crapping his pants. The doofus maybe talking tough now but Trump got him by the balls. The Chinese economy will be screwed, this tariffs war cannot go on for more than 3 months.

To be fair, the USA is was an agricultural powerhouse built on slave labor, followed by being a manufacturing powerhouse built on wage slave labor.

The irony is that one of the boldest efforts to push back on China’s trade practices was the TPP, which the U.S. didn’t just join - it led. It was designed to go beyond the outdated and stalled WTO, set higher standards on labor, environment, digital trade, and IP, and create a bloc that pressured China to reform or be left out.

That was the strategic play, and Trump killed it in his first week. So the idea that "no one did anything" just isn’t true. The TPP was the something. It was years in the making and would have helped us counter China's influence with allies.

Real leadership would have meant strengthening that alliance, not blowing it up to score short-term political points.

Do you know how America emerged as the world's industrial leader in the 19th century? It was through systematic acquisition of European technologies via industrial espionage, followed by patenting them under a legal framework to prevent foreigners from using them.

    See these articles:
The Spies Who Launched America’s Industrial Revolution
In trade wars of 200 years ago, the pirates were Americans | AP News

The cases listed in the original post were similar to what the US did back when America was climbing the industrial ladder. There are no grounds for Americans to claim moral supremacy at all.

    A few additional points:
    1. While historical cases of unauthorized technology acquisition existed, these were not the primary driver of China's industrialization. Many technology transfers occurred through mutual agreements where foreign companies exchanged proprietary knowledge for the access to the Chinese market, which operated within formal business frameworks.
    2. Following decades of prioritizing industrial expansion, China shifted its focus toward innovation-driven growth since late 2010s, accompanied by stricter IP protection laws and enforcement against infringement.
    3. As China advances in several technology fields, there have also been cases of espionage attempts from the US targeting Chinese tech firms and research institutes. (Chinese cybersecurity centre accuses US of hacking and stealing tech secrets)
    4. In cases such as Alstom and TikTok, the US government employed its political and legal power to force the sale of foreign businesses to American buyers. These government-coerced acquisitions are even worse than pirating a single technology.

“got him by the balls” lol.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Trump is begging Xi for a phone call like a b-tch.

Edit: Just like Putin is ignoring Trump and making him his b-tch.
