Supermax + non-top 10 players like Booker are very hard to put a value on, because the market for them is super illiquid. The right team has to come along at the right time and their GM has to be motivated to bet their career on the player, foregoing all flexibility. The KAT to NYK trade is the best example. But most teams at most times don't act like the Knicks last summer. With Booker, the most reasonable possibility IMO is a trade to Detroit, his hometown team. I think that would look something like Booker for Jaden Ivey, Ron Holland, Tobias Harris and a couple (probably bad) DET frps. But tbh I think DET wanting to do that is still pretty unlikely bc why push their chips in right now? Do they want to start paying the tax soon? You'd have to assume the GM/owner is very impatient and cost insensitive, and we have no reason to think that.
I think he has too much freedom playing for Atlanta because he is the only offensive threat with any kind of gravity, especially when Johnson is absent. This leads to him attempting some crazy shots. He is gonna play alongside Jalen, Alpi, and Amen if he comes here. He doesn't have to carry the team. Defensively, I believe Udoka would be able to hide him. Young is small but he is definitely not a slacker. He tries at that side of the game. I would love him to be a Rocket. All-time playmaker imo and a guy that can close out games. Sadly, I don't see the Hawks letting him go.
Na, if you’re a good player you have value regardless how badly you’re overpaid. I bet you boston could get value for brown, who’s on a supermax and not top 20 (and has never reached the peak level booker has).
I buy what I would do and everyone else would do: Keep the young talent, one of the top players at his position, shooter scorer from all 3-tiers, fan favorite of Phoenix. Beal has "No Trade" clause. Can't force him out. Durant is older, past his prime, due to be hit by injuries secondary to age. ____________ As I've said, KAT (Knicks) x Durant (Suns) works for both sides. Durant takes Knicks from friend-zone to sure thing in East. KAT made Knicks a potent offense; but one of the worst defenses. Durant, with Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and you get a good blend of offense and defense. Booker , Beal and KAT defense is terrible but the Suns could surround them with defenders or try to outscore teams next year.....much like this season. Or pass KAT on to the next team. The owner doesn't mind spending money as long as they make the playoffs and hope they catch fire at the right moment. ______ AI Overview Suns owner Mat Ishbia has publicly stated that Devin Booker will not be traded, and that a trade is "never going to happen". Those fools have said they would trade everyone else but Booker. Every owner would do the same. Unless your city has Kendall Jenner.....he won't be going anywhere.
Things is rockets already have booker in reality with green. Booker gonna be 28. I'd just pass tbh.. The draft compensation alone could be worth more value when adding Green, what ever combo of young players they want in trade, plus he's making too much per year. I think you watch the Denver situation and see if Murray might want out, and you trade Fred..
He’s worth what someone is willing to pay for him. It’s team by team but I’m guessing the Suns would ask for 4 first round picks, a good young player, and a rotation player. The Rockets would PROBABLY offer up FVV’s and the two Phoenix picks. Maybe they’d throw in Cam. If a team beats that offer then again it’s about how much they are willing to pay for him if they want him that bad.
I think that's pretty far from the truth. The Rockets traded for the PHX picks hoping they could get Booker if the Suns fell apart. If Jalen has an awful playoffs we might end up with Booker if the Suns are willing to trade him.
The only scenario where this thread makes sense is we are doing "separate" trades because of the 2nd apron where we get Booker and Durant for the Suns picks with Booker being dumped to a 3rd team for what? We aren't getting Ant or Joker so who cares.
It makes sense in a scenario where the Rockets want to aquire another star but the team trading that star isn't interested in picks and young players. For example, Boston flames out in the playoffs and Brown wants out. Boston might not want our picks and young players but they may take Booker because it allows them to stay a contender.
This is too low for Booker. They will want at least 1-2 of the young core maybe Cam and Reed or maybe they would want Jalen traded for assets.
That doesnt make any sense though why will Nuggets trade Jokic to get Booker? lol If they trade Jokic it wil either be for another superstar like Giannis or they will rebuild and want the Booker assets for themselves.
The problem with that logic is that it is backward. The trade starts with PHX for a reason. We have their assets and Booker is expensive. It helps to understand every team's situation and why we would even begin to talk to them. Boston is interested in competing long term and getting out of the 2nd apron. They are not dumping Brown to do that. Brown is NOT available. Booker for Brown is a nonstarter. From the Rockets standpoint I would say our targets are Luka, Jokic, Ant, Durant, Harden, and maybe Giannis and other young stars I am not listing. It is very convoluted and UNLIKELY that we simply use the cost of acquiring Booker to pass him off somewhere else and that team is happy with that for their star. Ant is not available but Minny is not going to be happy with eating Booker for Ant. I'm only trading for Booker because of the arbitrage to pass him along. That seldom works. The example you are hanging on is Lavine in the Fox trade. That was a low value distressed asset along with draft capital. It really started because separate teams wanted to do a trade and found a synergy. You have to find what those are to get the multiteam trades. Most multiteam trades have small transactions with side trades to make certain assets more palatable and manage roster spots.
Teams are moving away from killer contracts. At least thats my suspicion. It's why Luka got traded. I think player values in the new era are going to be significantly less than people think (not saying players will make less) and the only players that will be worth that money are legit two way superstars. Or maybe a highly conditioned offensive dynamo (Steph). It wouldn't surprise me if Jokic got traded. The NBA tried to make it more socialist and redistribute the wealth but I feel it's going to be easier for teams like LA, NY and Houston to retain their players at cheaper salaries than a place like Detroit or Utah or Portland who can keep players with the supermax deals but will hamper their team construction due to having less money to put elsewhere (why the Nuggets have been ho hum since winning the title).
Harden is not a target of the Rockets. LOL. Jokic is not going anywhere. He is not a demand to get out kind of guy. He will be a Nugget for the rest of his career, which might not be that long. He is looking to retire early. No way the new ownership will trade Ant this off-season. Somewhere down the line, he might demand out, but not until he gives it another year. The NBA didn’t engineer the Luka debacle to see him walk to a smaller market. He isn’t going anywhere. Durant and Giannis are the only two that are even somewhat attainable. Giannis is only plausible if you include Sengun in the trade. Durant is only plausible if the Suns take 1 of their picks and maybe one other highly protected pick plus FVV and Tari or Cam. The playoffs will determine whether we do anything substantial in the off-season and, even if we sh*t the bed, the odds of a blockbuster trade are minimal in my opinion. Most likely outcome is picking up Fred’s option or extending him with a reasonable contract and tweeking our rotation with added vets that can shoot.
