Good. TNT picked up a great analyst. It will be tight if he can join the NBA Show w/ Kenny, Barkley and that other guy. P.S. - countingcrow, your link requires registration.
DA was held down by ESPN. He was good when they featured him a few years ago. Then they got "Disney-ized" and all downhill.
TNT coverage blows away ABC/ESPN. I like Al Michaels, but I find it strange for him to be calling NBA games. But I have no problems with him doing NBA games. TNT A Team>ESPN A Team TNT B Team>ESPN B Team TNT B Team>ESPN A Team TNT Studio Team>>>ESPN Studio.
TNT's coverage is getting better and better while ESPN and ABC are just falling down and loosing a lot of credibility. When ESPN was coming up and gaining ground on the market they were doing a good job of reporting and commentating. Now it's all about flash and being funny while your doing the show mainly Sports Center. They have turned a really good thing into a typical played out corporate driven channel. I will blame this on there darn merger with ABC/Disney.
Great pickup for TNT. Something the TNT studo crew really lacked was an "information man" and Aldridge brings that. I think that completes their roster quite well. The ESPN Studio crew has been set. John Saunders takes the place of Kevin Fraser (left for Entertainment Tonight). Joining John will be Screamin' A. Smith, Greg Anthony and newcomer Mark Jackson. Gone from that group from last year is homer Bill Laimbeer. I think Saunders being brought in is a huge plus as the "boo-ya" factor will be lessened and the show will be more watchable. And Mark Jackson has to be an improvement over Laimbeer.
Hey, homer Bill Laimbeer was right last year. Espn's probably going to be close to unwatchable. Eventually they're going to have to add some substance back to the mix. TNT is just rock solid in all areas.
Only thing that is good is that TNT and ESPN are both HD on timewarner so i will enjoy the games just s little more this year.
Dunno if this was mentioned in the article (didn't register), but DA was also hired by the Philly Inquirer to write about the NFL. He used to write about the Redskins for the Washington Post. A loss for the NBA, but at least he'll be in print again. Aldridge had a kid last summer, and it was a bloody joke the way ESPN treated him. Can't wait to see him on Turner. He rocks.
wait, what!! i loved kevin frasier. funny but not over the top and could be the serious guy when needed. he was probably my favorite sportscenter guy and maybe the only good thing about the espn nba studio show (greg anthony is all right but went along with bill and smith's antics way too much). i guess i can buy his personality on ET but why would he leave espn after coming there from fox. dammit that sucks to lose him. not that john saunders is bad.
Yeah Kevin Frasier was solid. I liked him. I am not sure why he left ESPN. I figured when he jumped from Fox he hit is pinnicle. But I guess hosting an entertainment show allows him more freedoms. Perhaps he gets more money or has a better work schedule.
I also like Kevin on ESPN. When I saw him on ET, I was like, neat he is also doing ET. I had no freaking idea he left ESPN for ET.
Talk is he was canned by ESPN because he wasnt as GOOD a "TV personality" as Screamin' A Smith. So what if DA was subdued. At least he had legit takes. I will take legitimate information and good basketball knowledge (however dull) over hyper BS takes by loud mouths. My two cents.
why is it that Greg Anthony shakes his legs so often? Never mind! I really don't like ESPN's NBA coverage. As for TNT, humm. I don't know why Barkley didnt' say any good things about Rockets the other night. When he was asked about which teams he thinks improved most during the offseason, he mentioned almost every team except Rockets.
