Glad that Reed, and Cam got to be thrown in the fire last night so they can experience what playoff contending teams are really like to play against, and get their butt kicked to maybe give them some humility going into the Summer to focus on getting better. I know Reed will work his tail off this Summer, and will maximize what he can do. Cam.... we'll see. Overall longterm last night was a very good experience for both of those guys, and worth the loss in the longrun.
I liked what I saw from Reed. Going 6/10 from three is huge and it wasn't just spot up shooting. He was creating them off the dribble or hitting contested looks. This will bode well for his future.
This season was just his training year...by spring 2026, Reed will be making all of us very happy! Or so I think...
What does the 14 wins mean in terms of a trade? If okc does chet and Williams and say 6 crappy/mediocre picks vs sengun/jalen and 4 incredible picks i think it’s debatable which is better though i can definitely see the argument for okc offer. If okc only offers one of them it’s not close to houstons offer.
Really? His passing was so not crisp and lackadaisical. He kept picking up his dribble way too early putting him in situations for more bad passes and eating up shot clock. He kept passing up shots when defenders went under the screens. He desperately need a floater yesterday. He was incredible undersized compared to the Clippers team. I get this was basically a summer league game for the Rockets, but it was a very frustrating watch.
After a pretty rough first ~60 games of the season, it's been great to get some flashes from Reed. I'm sure this is what the coaches have seen in practice.
I feel ya. It felt like the whole team looked overmatched. And the fact is they were. It was our sophomore team + Jalen for a stretch going against their varsity with two MVPs and playoff seeding on the line. But you didn't feel at least a little exicited when Reed hit that silky smooth 3 at the opening of the game? Oh man I did. It looked automatic. I don't expect him to shoot 60% from 3 in these remaining games, but if he did I wouldn't be completely surprised.
Castle is very much a work-in-progress, similar to Reed. We'll know a lot more about both guys early next season. I expect each guy to take a major step forward. IMO, you can learn a lot about a player by how they progress in their second year.
sure but knocking reed down at the same time while doing that is weird; they want to take a victory lap after a season
I don't know about practice, but it's what I was hoping he'd ignite again within himself. At the beginning of the season he was making mistakes and hesitant to shoot. He's always had the ability to score but for some reason was just content to pass to 2nd and 3rd tier players instead of taking open shots. Or sometimes instead of taking a 3, he'd try driving in for shorter shots. I was hoping it was because he was adjusting to NBA defenses and range. I don't know if that was it, but he seems to be willing to let it fly now. I'm definitely sure the coaches are happy with that. I still don't know about him being a full-time point guard, but we'll see if he can improve his handles enough. I'm sure he'll still get picked on on defense, too, but maybe we can work around that. All that being said, he's only had a couple of "great" games so far. Let's see how next season goes. At least his shot doesn't look like a bust and his mind doesn't seem like it went Ben Simmons and he has a psychological problem.
I feel like FVV is the perfect model to build on. Especially the "getting picked on" part. And can we start calling him Jimmy Chitwood yet? When?
Undersized SG who can only shoot but not playmake are the most common player in the L, along with athletic wing who cant shoot and tall 6'10+ dude who can only layup and dunk.
it's also funny seeing people here gas up Castle when reed sniffs some minutes and he drops 20 on great defenses. sad.
He's improved a lot. He's more fierce with the ball and letting it fly with confidence. On defense he's undersized but he will rip you. If I'm @roslian I would start back peddling on the hate.
Backpedaling? Nah, it's timeto move the goal posts, like they did Sengun. They were still wrong but they felt better about themselves.
