I remember when the Framber spring training finger injury couple years back jeopardized his entire season though...
I don’t think he has been terrible. His range has gone down but he makes the plays in front of him and positions himself well. If I had to roll with him at second of not have his bat in the line up, I’ll roll with him at second. I think he will improve in LF… but thus far he has been very bad.
Talked to a buddy of mine that was a professional pitcher about the thumb. He said it all depends on the grip- for him it would have been no big deal- for others much more of a big deal. He didn’t seem overly concerned.
Rough start at the plate this season. I want to see Dezenzo be the utility guy instead of Dubon. Dezenzo has played 3B, 1B, and OF and was Ohio State's regular SS. He can play pretty much anything. Let Cam Smith be the regular in RF, Rodger the everyday 2B, and let Dezenzo be the utility/rotation guy. Dubon should be on the bench and rarely get off of it. This would at least give Dezenzo and Smith get regular at bats to se what they can do. I don't like this rotation in RF thing.
Dont know who McCabe is but Dana had a player in mind when he decided to payoff most of Montero's contract. Probably a AA guy I've never heard of.
So far the Astros have the offense of a 44 win team and the pitching of a 110 win team. The good news is that they’ve been unlucky on both sides.
unfortunately this is compounded by the Espada effect. Still don’t understand why you don’t use King or Okert over Scott
The offense will improve to average at worst - there's too many *proven* players for it not happening. Pitching will likely be Top 5 Espada might be the biggest problem. 90 wins is still possible Let's go !!
All of the Astros' games this season have been decided by 3 runs or less except for one. That means everyone in the bullpen is going to have to pitch in high leverage spots.
Number of 40 man roster players currently on the injured list: Rangers 4 Astros 10 Mariners 5 Yankees 10
Astros covering all but about $3M of Montero’s contract, I’d guess Montero was only worth about that much, so I will be very surprised if Houston gets a prospect worth anything from the deal. Still, it gives them some more breathing room at the deadline to add salary and stay under the tax.
I consider 3 million a big win. The Astros are going to have roster issues with their bullpen. Hader, Abreu, Scott, Whitley, Ort, Dubin, and Okert don't have any options left. King has been a stud so he ain't going anywhere. So Montero was likely to be cut anyway and best case scenario if he would have been cut is the Astros getting back the prorated league minimum if someone signs him. I will take the 3 million all day long.
Agree. To dump $3M after getting a few quality innings out of him, and open a spot for another optionable arm is a win.
