It can be really hard to judge a player's ceiling when they share the court with elite talent even after several years' worth of sample sizes. Nash was an eight year vet and Jalen Brunson was a five year vet when Dallas let them walk. Dirk and Luka took huge amount of defensive attention off them, but they also took their usage. Playing a role well does not mean someone only has role player potential. Not saying Kon is a future star. I just wouldn't write it off purely because he plays with Flagg. The Duke prospects all played pretty well when Flagg was out too.
If 8 out of 10 top 10 picks get rotation minutes, then odds are a Rockets pick would get rotation minutes on this team that gives minutes to the likes of Holiday, Tate, Landale, or even Cam despite being supposedly having lots of attitude issues
It's kind of odd that every hype thread here talks about how the Rockets are setup for long term, and apparently stop caring about long term when it comes to this draft. If we aren't going to try to win now by adding more veteran talent, then the team should be developing players for future success. You can't say the Rockets don't need Booker or KD because they're in it foe the long haul, and then tuen around and decide we should keep playing Steven Adam's cause he's better than most 19yr olds.
They have to pay him and The Aussie. They ready to commit that much money to a unproven Ed backcourt. Giddey got traded out of OKC because he wouldn’t accept a lowball offer from OKC.. he wants max money and so do Coby
Yea I don’t agree. Kon is a winner. Smart, high feel, efficient, impacts the game on a high level. Don’t get the love on Maluach. Big with high hip that does NOT rebound, does NOT block shots. I just don’t see it. Topic is a bad fit hands down. If Reed Sheppard cannot get playing time, where do you see Topic in the equation. His defensive weakness is well-documented, doesn’t even have the physical tools and quick hands (Reed) to at least offset some. A firm no to that. I’d consider trading the pick for a 2026 potential lottery if it doesn’t jump to the top 4, though.
Trade the Suns picks and basically whatever they want besides Amen for Jokic since it looks like the Nuggets are melting down.
The difference is we already have Adams, keeping him is just paying him money. With Booker and KD you will lose assets for what is essentially a 2 yr rental.
Where do you get that Maluach isn't a rebounder? Dude has the highest TRB% in Duke with 18%. 2nd is Flagg with 14% TRB%. He only grabs 6.6 rebs because he only plays 20 mins. And Duke rarely missed in the regular season.
well yah of course. but all rookies are not the same age. go into the same situation, play the same amount of minutes. kobe bryant in 1996 scored less points than other rookies dean garrett, roy rogers, and the rockets own matt maloney. im sure they all got better to some extent the next season but kobe's situation was different. It's all good though. I can tell unequivocally at this point that Sheppard will have a solid NBA career and importantly be a winning player. we'll see!
Watching the Suns game tonight and it would take a lot to convince me Booker is worth paying the supermax for on our team. On a game where Suns are on the brink of playin elimination, Booker is playing extremely lackadaisical. Doesn't even try on defense, on offense has no urgency and keeps passing to bad shooters on single coverage. If we trade all those assets for Booker this summer, it would be a huge mistake. If it was for Giannis or Jokic, I'd be down but no one on the Suns interests me.
I don't know why a rookie needs to get minutes. If you like a player at your pick you take him and wait for a spot to open up. Right now the long term guys that are going to get minutes are Green Sengun Bari Tari Amen Then the maybe minutes are Reed Cam Everybody else on the roster might not be there in 2 years and in 2 years the rookie taken this year will be ready to contribute.
Suns should be ashamed of the product they are putting on the floor. The Warriors aren't even shooting lights out. The Suns are just not trying. The offensive rebound and TO differentials are both 10-2 in favor of the Warriors. At halftime. Booker is playing purely for stats.
yeah VJ and Tre can play. I can’t claim to have watched enough Rutgers to know how good Ace is, but the analysts I trust think Harper is the real deal. Can’t get passed the fact that Rutgers has two top 5 NBA prospects and still couldn’t make the tourney. But regardless, isn’t Ace considered a real project? I feel like VJ and probably Tre can come right in and play.
It’s a good point, but not sure you want to wait two yrs; that’s half his rookie scale contract gone and then you have to decide if you want to pay big extension money the following yr. But I take your point.
I think you are right. I was wrong about the rebounding. (Think my impression was highly skewed by his high-stakes game performances) Wasn’t able to move bigger guys. Struggled to catch the ball many times. Very versatile defensively (but weirdly doesn’t block shots). Limited offensively, long way to go.
If this stands, they’re officially done chasing the Kings and their elimination number with the Mavs is 1 — and considering the Mavs have a game left with what should be the tanking Raptors, those are not good odds.
