I tried doing a yearly thread for the NBA Draft where we try to guess the players who will be busts and great 5 years down the line as well as make predictions about the season for the Rockets, but it's usually crickets in there when you ask people to post their opinions. Some of the loudest people about the draft and talent evaluation are usually the quietest people in those threads. I think I've pretty much given up on those threads since people don't want to risk their "reputations" from the looks of it and would rather bury their opinions in threads where everyone goes back and forth for 200 pages.
I thought we were picking 4th in a 3 person draft and not likely to get much out of it positive. Glad I'm wrong on that one.
I felt similarly. But, like you, I was not arrogant enough to create a thread saying everyone who felt he was worth picking was delusional. This is the fundamental problem with some posters we all can name - these black and white perspectives posted with absolutely certainty despite having no meaningful insight or unique perspective / knowledge.
WOW...such a BAD take. Aged like milk. Some of you just need to stop acting like y'all know ANYTHING about sports.
I mean, I thought Amen was overhyped (I was super wrong, happy to admit that all day) but not quite to this level of crazy. Once I saw some of the videos the athleticism was clear, the being one of the greatest defenders I've seen in over 30 years as a fan? Yeah that was a little unexpected lol. OP's crazy though.
I don’t have a problem with people having an opinion or an assessment but just have something to back up your analytical reasoning. People usually cite incorrect information or make up stuff or judge without knowledge, understanding, or substantiating facts. And it’s funny how some of these people act as if they were day 1 Amen supporters. People were wrong about their bias and misinformation on what OTE is. They were wrong on Amen. They were wrong about Bari. They were wrong about Jalen. They were wrong about Dillon. It’s amazing how many fans gave up on these guys and gave them no chance at redemption but now are all on their nuts. One player I was wrong about was Tari. He’s a bit better than I thought although he’s improved greatly from year 1. How many here admit they were wrong about a player?
I have never seen a player make this type of leap in a Rockets uniform in one year, from the previous year being a Rocket. I hope they sign him to extension to keep them with the team.
Yeah I was completely wrong for liking this post. What do I know about basketball? I’m a short, white old man.
