President Donald Trump is set to impose an additional 84% in levies across all Chinese imports on Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced on Tuesday. That will mean all goods from the country are subject to a tariff of at least 104%.

Dam it and I need a new iPhone......................who will blink first, the suspense is killing me. This back-and-forth is just ridiculous, its how a child reacts, not the leader of the Free World (for now)

Like it or not we are trade partners, do what you supposedly do best and make a dam deal and stop the childish BS. trump prefers to have the countries beg. GOD, forbid we try to negotiate on the front end and not put the country and the world into chaos just to prove we are the new bully on the block

Worth the watch. You’ll learn a lot more (simple, basic current situation and history) than you would from reading most articles by American journalists, hot takes from random people, political commentary on X, or Social Media blogs and analysis. The first 6 minutes give you that. The first 15 minutes give you more. There’s no attack - just facts and realist analysis.

Note: Under the 2004 US–Singapore Free Trade Agreement, there is no tariff on goods traded between the U.S. and Singapore. The U.S. actually runs a trade surplus with Singapore. Yet they’re still slapped with a 10% tariff.

The question is who has more leverage. A guy who wants to be a dictator or the guy who is a dictator. The guy that has manufacturing capability or the guy who has bunch of citizens used to cheap stuff. The guy that has the rest of the world to sell stuff to or the guy who is friendly to his master in Russia. China also has trillions of US dollars sitting in a bank that they can dump at anytime.

    This.

For someone who doesn't have much leverage...he acts like he has ALL the leverage. I guess thats what a classic narcissist does.

The ability to set tariffs needs to require an approval by congress. This dictator needs a power check.

I don't think that's true; American automakers sell millions of right-side drivers. Japanese cars are cheaper there, and let's face it, not many American cars/trucks are in the demographic over there.

Of course, this is arguing with some social media nitwit.

I think Trump will get favorable trade agreements with the rest of the world because most small countries have no choice but China isn't going to crack because they have more leverage. We are also going to continue to alienate our allies which is not good at all.

Here is the thing. The premier of China didn't become a dictator by being nice. He is a narcissist also. A narcissist that is smarter with more leverage.

I have an old range rover I've been meaning to sell. So that value is probably up after these tariffs. I also was going to upgrade my Iphone this year.

I wonder if the Apple store will take trade in's of vehicles?
