His court vision, height and passing is what I like.
I believe his jumper can get better with a good shooting coach. His mechanics aren't bad.

The shooting numbers are more like Jalen when he came into the league than Amen .... His mechanics aren't broken.

He has good touch around the rim and a has an assortment of floaters and other shots in the short range.

Then there's the ball handling and decision making, fantastic as the ball handler in the pick and roll setting up teammates or finishing plays himself.

There isn't a player outside the top 5 with as much star potential.

Duke 'looking into' how state department ruling on South Sudan passport holders could impact projected NBA lottery pick Khaman Maluach

SAN ANTONIO — A standout Duke basketball player and projected NBA lottery draft pick could be at risk of deportation as a result of a state department ruling announced hours before the Blue Devils' Final Four loss to Houston on Saturday night.

The United States is revoking all visas for South Sudanese passport holders, effective immediately, and blocking new arrivals, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a statement posted to X. Rubio cited the African nation's refusal to accept the return of its nationals expelled from the U.S. "in a timely manner" as the rationale for his decision.

Duke freshman Khaman Maluach is a native of South Sudan who played for that country's Olympic team last summer. The 7-foot-2 center spent much of his childhood in Uganda after his family fled war-ravaged South Sudan when he was a boy.

Maluach was not made available to reporters during Duke's media availability after Saturday night's game. When asked about Maluach's immigration status, Duke University spokesman Frank Tramble released a brief statement confirming the school is "aware of the announcement from the Department of State regarding visa holders from South Sudan."

"We are looking into the situation and working expeditiously to understand any implications for Duke students," Tramble added.

When contacted Sunday morning by Yahoo Sports, a state department spokesperson said that Rubio’s decision would “impact all those who have a U.S. visa in a South Sudanese passport and anyone with a South Sudanese passport who is applying for a U.S. visa.”

“We will provide further information and instructions to affected visa holders and applicants as it is available,” the state department spokesperson said.

“We will provide further information and instructions to affected visa holders and applicants as it is available,” the state department spokesperson said.

Maluach is one of three projected lottery picks on a Duke team that won 35 games and was the favorite to win the national championship before Saturday's upset loss. The Blue Devils led Houston by as many as 14 points with eight minutes in the second half before collapsing down the stretch against the tough, never-say-die Cougars.

It's unclear whether Maluach knew about the state department announcement before tipoff of Duke's matchup with Houston. Either way, he had one of his worst games of the season, scoring six points but failing to secure a rebound in 21 minutes.

He's in another class and status. He doesn't have to worry; he'll be a multi-millionaire in another 3-4 months and be elevated into a different well taken care of social status.

Isn’t Tillman buddy with Donald ?
Might get an exception if he’s drafted by the Rockets.

Walter Clayton Jr. should be our pick if he falls in our lap...he'll be our FVV replacement if Reed can't take over the starting pg spot.

I think he'll have a better pro career than Shabazz. Unfortunately, his development was not priority for LeBron James Miami Heat tenure...lol

What if he also cant take over? Then we'll have two pgs sitting on the bench lol.

PGs are the most common resource in the NBA unless its someone like Dylan Harper I prefer signing guys in free agency.

I think that Sheppard at a minimum will be a winning guard off the bench. PG is the weakest spot I envision on the Rockets unless Reed does take over. If not the Rockets have the ammo to upgrade I just don't know who that would be.

The best type of player for me would be above average shooter with length that plays good defense. You don't need someone that is amazing a creating. Green/Amen/Sengun can make up for the lack of that.

I agree but thats why I dont want a rookie pg unless its a jumbo guard like Dylan Harper. Reed should be better Y2, I dont want the rookie we draft to be Reed 2.0 and sit behind Reed in the rotation.

Right now to solve the pg situation Rox will prob resign FVV to a cheaper deal and then IMO they should go after Tyus Jones. Jones has had great success when he comes off the bench and is one of the better non star playmakers and shooters. He would be an upgrade over Holiday and then Reed can be the other backup pg/sg.

So Florida nor Houston really have a lottery pick, crazy. I’d just trade down to be honest and get a Cougar if we cannot get Cooper or use the pick in a trade.

Maluach's 0 reb game against Houston scares the hell out of me.

FVV/Amen/Green is looking to be an excellent guard rotation. I think by the middle of next season, Holiday and Reed will be fine playing around those 3.

I just don't trust guards/wings that stop playing defense to start playing defense again. I'd rather play Holiday with playmakers than try to cover for Jones's defense.

I think you have to look at who seems most likely to be a generational player 1st, then fit. I think a big to pair with Sengun (Maluach) could push him up our draft board but if there is a guard or forward who we think is generational but redundant, you go with redundant. I hate that but it's just the best way to work the draft. You hope you get both.

Kon if we are picking outside the top 4. If he’s gone trade out for a 2026 pick. We need shooters.

PG is the one spot where defense isnt as important. We have had lots of bad defender pgs be effective like Curry, Nash, Trae Young etc

Jones was part of Memphis before when Memphis had the 2nd best record along with DB. He is so much better at shooting and playmaking than Holiday.
