Much props to Green. Up until a few months ago, there were still many who wanted Green gone for a box of donuts (okay I exaggerated a bit, but it almost felt like it). Though the Green skepticism has lulled to a whimper…. Seems even the most vocal are giving props to Green, and it’s beautiful to see Rockets fans enjoys watching an elite team. Jackson Gatlin from locked in Rockets had the guy from Sacramento Locked on Kings, and he wanted Green, drafts picks, Jabari, etc for Fox. Gatlin laughed him off…. Last year Brooklyn wanted Green as well as its pick obligations to Houston back, plus more picks; just for Bridges (who is a good player, but he is what he is). Many vocal fans, other GM’s, the national media, popular podcasts had determined the Green was to be just an okay player, but more fools-gold than reliable player. But quietly Green has become a defensive shooting guard, a reliable 3 point shooter, a reliable dribble penetration to the basket, a solid mid range shooter, and a solid teammate. Oh and behold, though everyone on national media is on the Jade Cunningham bandwagon, Green’s win share is 5.7 to Cunningham’s 5.3. Green contributes more to the Rockets winning than Cunningham contributes to the Pistons. Green might not be among the top 20 players yet, but the way he is improving and learning, I do not doubt he gets there within 2 years.
Brother, calling me deranged is an exercise in you not having an ability to discuss actual basketball and resorting to platitudes and being frustrated when your platitudes aren't sufficient in defending you claims.
I have been on this forum since the late 90s even though i didn’t register till 2001. I have read a lot of wild posts (and i’m sure written some idiotic ones). His post might be the most out of touch nonsense i have ever read on here.
Lol there are some posters here who have been vehemently disagreeing with me who read this and are like "nah brah that's a bit too much". This board has had Nazi race science eugenic types be banned and here you are saying my arguments about Jalen Green are the most unhinged posts you've ever seen. Look at a mirror. Hell look at this amazing stretch over the past two months and look at your negative Nancy posting behavior during her stretch yo attack guys you hate like Green. You can't even enjoy this team finally winning. I'm sure some of the most annoying toxic posters like Bobby and DD will like your comment.
This is a thread about Jalen and not your personal grudges. Your personal grudge here is more unbecoming of being a level headed mature adult than whatever "out of touch" comments you think I made before. And I bet my left nut these accusations you will throw at me will not amount to anything beyond platitudes rather than specific examples of how you drew that conclusion that my comments are the most out of touch nonsense you've ever read because you don't have the ability to express your thoughts more granually. You don't have that ability therefore your only way to accuse people and defend your accusations is through you expressing your "vibes" of me.
I am now of the opinion that green is going to be a full-blown star. I believe he will end up being one of the top 10 or 15 players in the league. he has really been impressive this year defensively and he has gotten better at essentially everything. the things that are standing out recently, are improvement with ball handling, passing and spot up shooting.
Why do you even post here? Do you even enjoy following this team? Look at your comments over the past month it would seem like the team is in the middle of a disappointing tank rebuild. Why? Why do you lash out at other posters expressing their basketball opinions out of frustration? Are you upset the Rockets are doing well this season and this is how you handle your emotions during such a situation?
I mean you are? You call people's posts debating about basketball as "out of touch". And almost all your comments in the playlist month are replying to someone being excited for a player and telling them they shouldn't be as excited. A Debbie Downer as we say. You enjoy this team?
@fchowd0311 there's some serious irony that back in the day, you used to always go after the Harden defenders as much as anyone on here...and now you're the fiercest JG defender there is. Just funny looking back on it.
I mean there is a difference between acknowledging a player being a top 5 player in the NBA which I did routinely while saying that I think Harden completely eliminating his mid range game and the team offense is just heliocentric watching Harden break down defense while everyone else stands around is not sustainable for the playoffs when teams try to take away the primary option and force other guys to do stuff beyond what they are used to. If you have the time which I doubt as I assume you have a life, go back to all my comments between 2012-2020 and point out 1 instance of me warning to trade James Harden. If your claim that I was aggressively anti-harden you'd easily find me wanting to trade him in multiple posts similar to how you can find plethora of content of Green haters wanting to trade Green. Like you even see posts today hoping he gets traded eventually. My criticism of Harden were purely tactical within rhe means with how we employed our offense and if that is sustainable in the post season. That's different that people saying Jalen Green needs to be traded, or that he's a complentary player or that he's a bust or that he's Corey Brewer. Do you see the difference? Do you see the difference between complete dismissing the talent and level of player someone is vs criticizing the way a offensive system is? A true Harden hater would dismiss stuff like him being a actual perennial MVP candidate or a first team level all NBA player which I never did. I never questioned Harden's ranking in the NBA pecking order
Nah, I'm not saying anything necessarily about your defense of Jalen. I like JG a lot, I think he's very talented and that he just isn't fully utilizing that talent to it's full potential yet. It was just funny thinking back on it regarding the Harden stuff. But no, I do not think Jalen should be traded or that he's Corey Brewer lol.
I never said that is what YOU believe. I'm expressing the difference in my criticism of Harden and Dantoni offensive schemes vs complete dismissing the talent level of a player like many posters do with Green. So no I don't see the irony because I wasn't doing the same thing with Harden. I never diminished the level of player he was. I criticized that eliminating the mid range and heliocentrism isn't sustainable in the playoffs. Again me simply never even expressing a desire to trade Harden in my peak criticism of our offensive system should tell you it's completely different than Jalen Green hate. There are entire threads dedicated to trading Harden and scroll through them and see if I was involved in any of it.
That's fair to a degree. To dismiss Jalen's talent is foolish, but he also has to find more consistency from a production standpoint. Once that production is more solidified, particularly from an efficiency and playmaking perspective that hate will become much quieter and more selective. The thing with Harden, his production was otherworldly, but because he had bad moments there were a group of people that would act as if everything he had done was irrelevant. And that's frustrating.
I mean that was definitely not me. I wish I could show you my comments in neutral platforms like r/NBA on Reddit spending a lot of time defending Harden. On this message board I harped on disagreeing with our offensive philosophy being sustainable on the playoffs but would never dismiss Harden being a perennial MVP candidate level talent in his prime.
