I watched the crunch time highlights again and it's remarkable how Flagg specifically cost Duke numerous times. He fell for Sharp's pump fake, couldn't handle the inbounds pass and got beat on the put-back dunk. He'll be fine in the NBA, but this game deserves to stay with him for a while.
Must have been a Spurs fan. Other videos later show coach giving Dream and then Nance a hug, so I think the block was temporary perhaps.
To be fair, basketball-wise, it was an ugly game. SO many turn overs and botched plays, but understandable from the stake perspective, and how unexperienced the players are, especially the Dukies. But you never can compare it to the NBA, unless you include the emotional aspect - and ESPN doesn't care less since they have no stake.
Does anyone watch ESPN anymore? If they don't want to give us credit so be it They will have to tonight
To be fair basketball wise it was a beautiful game. Those two rebounds gathered and that tipped inbound pass by Mylik Wilson at the end of the game were all things of beauty. That put pack dunk by Tugler after the Duke turnover in the last minute was poetry in motion. Those two CLUTCH free throws by Roberts giving us the lead capitalizing on a one and one opportunity were a thing of beauty. That three pointer by Sharp, pump faking Flagg out of his jock and hitting to shrink the lead to three absolutely was top 10 material and a thing of beauty. The 11-1 run put forth by the Coogs to close out the game was remarkable. This win against Duke was one of the most beautiful games I have seen in my life. Sometimes I guess you can't see the forest for the trees. I liked it so much I watched it again yesterday.
I was sitting in a Duke section on Saturday, absolutely surreal ending, I felt like I blacked out! (no alcohol involved) Even when I watched my recording the next day I was nervous we were going to pull it off!! I'll be there tonight too in the same seats but I'm hoping to see a little more red this time!
I didn't go to UH but my wife did. I always pull for UH sports, because it's the hometown university of course, but also because I always felt UH gets looked down upon from every other large Texas school, not just athletically, but academically too. I see a lot of Cougars get disrespected by Longhorn and Aggie alums, and not in a general school pride way, but in a "we went to a smarter school than you" way. A very unfair take. The resurgence of the basketball program Kelvin was able to spearhead has been incredible. I want UH to take this tonight very badly, for Kelvin, for the city, and for all the Cougar alums out there. Win this f'in thing.
Watched the replay vs Duke at least 10x - so much less stressful knowing the outcome - still awesome Win or lose tonight, still awesome. Very proud of Sampson, Houston, and UH. Let's finish though -- Houston has been waiting 40+ years Duke was perceived as invincible prior to Friday. Florida has been clutch -- but they been losing late in games multiple times during this tournament. Not sure why because I didn't watch their entire games nor do I follow college sports like that. Regardless... Coogs still seem better, more experienced, more battle tested, more dominate (during this tournament due to harder path), and the better team. We'll see the outcome in 12 hours.......
