With the possibility of Fred being gone next season, can Amen be the man at the 1 for the rox? Tell me what y’all think.
No, he's thriving as a wing. The Rockets shouldn't force the issue at PG. Fred will be back next year.
If we want make him the Point Guard then we need to make the trade to bring Ausar over to replace him at the forward position. Can't afford to lose his production there.
Amen will be the starting PG next year, this is what was envisioned when he was drafted and going into his 3rd year. If FVV is retained on the roster, it will be in a reserve role and completely appropriate considering his age- reducing his playing load even by 5-10 min per game and matched up against 2nd units will keep him productive for up to 2-3 seasons should he stay on the roster. Besides doing this because this has always been the plan, Amen has proven he can handle PG duties but it also opens a wing spot for another elite defender in the starting lineup whether that be Tari or Jabari or a new acquisition that will push this team into title contention for many years.
My answer are the beginning of the season was not yet and my answer now is almost. I’m 100% certain he’ll be ready to be the primary playmaker after the playoffs.
There is going to be a learning curve but yes. Slide him to point guard and bring in another sizable shooter to surround him and Alpi with Amen is going to leave us if we try to keep him in the dunkers spot. I know he’s gonna want that ball in his hands more and more the older / better he gets
His best role is as a forward in the dunker spot, i know some want him to be in a different role just to say he's in that role, but it's not in his best interest or the best interest of the team.
i like the primary playmaker moniker. Too many fans get set off by the PG designation. Next year we should blow the league away with speed and length at every position. We already have a good start at it with Amen, Jalen, Tari, Jabari, and Sengun. use our other assets to fill out the bench with even more lengthy 3&d players. Time for the modern version of Showtime..
I’m not entirely convinced his handles are sharp enough yet to run the show as our primary PG, especially considering how crucial he is crashing the boards and finishing at the dunker’s spot. It’s his dominance in the paint that makes him such a nightmare to defend and unlocks chances for everyone else. To me, we really need a Trae Young caliber player at the point, a dynamic shooter who’s a constant threat, not just a servicable option. If we’re willing to give Reed some time, I’m hopeful he can step up and own that role down the line.
