Utility player, part-time starter - super pinch hitter.

    Burke at second.

agreed..and if burke can't get the job done, put bidge back in. this of course is assuming he will play for a reasonable price.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Burke is going to be a stud, .300, 15-20 homers, 25-30 doubles, and around 30 SBs. Not his first year, but he'll get there. If we can resign Beltran, can you imagine our top three being Taveras, Burke and Beltran? Talk about scary speed at the top of the line up.

Not really down with Biggio at 3rd.

when he was at 2nd, he made many a bad throw that Bags had to dig out of the dirt. So putting him at 3rd would be escalating the problem.

The Astros have a 4 million dollar option with Biggio. That's too much money for a guy who is 38 and who shut it down offensively in august and through the rest of the season until the last week, and then didn't really have a good NLCS.

Biggio has a nice bat, but he hurt the astros playing left field. Biggio is not an everyday player anymore, so paying him 4 million for next year would be a stupid decision by Astros management, a decision of loyalty and not winning.

Bring him back for less if you can.

Why are all of you insistant upon penciling in Burke as the everyday guy next year. He has NEVER hit the ball out of the infield off a major league pitcher. Most of his plate appearances (admitted there weren't many) he looked completely lost.

The smart thing to do would be to have him pinch hit and spot start. Once he gets used to being in the bigs he may start having more success and then become the everyday guy.

If you try to force it you may kill any confidence he has. Then you have a huge mess on your hands.

Biggio would fit better in the American League so he could DH. His defense is horrible but he still has some pop in his bat. I know the Yankees could use him.

Exactly. Burke hasn't done squat on the big league level. People fall in love with prospects too much these days. Burke is going to take time to adjust to the major league level, and hopefully that won't hurt our playoff chances next year in the process.
