I had 46-49 wins as my official vote. It’s been five years since D’antoni quit on the plane ride home from the NBA bubble, Morey and Harden bailed next, and fans suffered three seasons of atrocious .250 percentage basketball followed by a two year rebuild that got us to this point. I think back to the droughts between ‘99 and ‘04 seasons and then ‘09 to ‘13, but this was a rebuild from the bottom to the top. Quite impressive. Go Rockets!
Totally agree, this rebuild has been crazy impressive! Honestly, I do think we are rather spoiled because the Rockets have been a historically very good franchise in terms of wins. Even in the second drought we were consistently a scrappy .500 team that would’ve made the play-ins every year had they existed back then. The Silas stretch was probably the darkest time in modern Rockets history—especially considering there was a non-zero chance we’d lose our pick to the Thunder that first year. Glad to be a Rockets fan, and glad to be where we are…imagine if we were Kings or Wizards fans or something
I expected Houston to never have a winning record with this core after the last few years. This season has been fun to follow.
My vote was 46-47 and I was sure I was being a homer. This team on paper should not be winning 50 games with our garbage shooting. It's a real testament to coaching, chemistry, and the absolute dawg in our young kids to play defense on this level in the West. We haven't beaten a good team in a while, but we absolutely shredded quite a few of them because we outworked them.
Those aren't "winning streaks", they're "good runs", which make total sense to have for a team winning over 60% of its games. But two long losing streaks for such a team is unusual, especially if injuries are not involved (although they were for the first one).
