Angels for sure. Rangers might actually be a problem this season. Still think we end up clinching in August but they'll be close for a little while.
4-0 in 1-run games Let the Arluckton begin If they maintain a 70% winning rate in those games, they probably take the West. Besides that, Astros have their own problems -- namely, 81 games of them.
When they are at their best, I'd agree. But none of them are at their best right now. Meyers has never consistently been, and it's been over a year since Chas was. None of these guys are good enough to say one definitely needs to play or one definitely shouldn't. If you played one of them exclusively in CF all year vs the others, it's probably going make maybe a 1 game difference in the team's record, and even with that, it's unclear right now which one of them actually would be the one that helps win the extra game.
Y’all think our bats have been frustrating? The Reds have lost three straight games 1-0. This board would lose its collective mind if that happened to us.
Have our bats not been objectively terrible? Do we need to engage in the suffering olympics? Glad we finally put up a decent number of runs today.
Good win, now let's build on that and take our first series...................my gosh Altuve looked bad, I am wondering how far into his 5-year extension the wheels fall off and he`s not an everyday player
As his K/walk ratio continues to dwindle… it’s going to be all about his power numbers. If he can get enough XBH to off-set the strikeouts, he’s still an everyday player. It can go fast though. 2023 = 900 OPS, still elite. 2024 = 798 OPS, still an everyday player, who probably needed more off days than he was given (or the team could afford last year). The trend will continue to go downwards… you just hope it’s gradual and not a cliff fall (like his defensive metrics at 2B ended up being, requiring a shift).
Won’t see one in the next series, either. Should see one during our Angels series a week from now. The “great lineup vs LHP” thing doesn’t help much when only 20 percent of your opponents are lefties.
I still have a soft spot for Rodgers. I just have a feeling he could be really good for us once he gets comfortable with his new swing. He has a lot of upside. I think Pena and Walker will be good for us also. Chas looks like he isn't clueless at the plate anymore which I hope means regular playing time. There is no reason Dubon should be playing ahead of Chas in the outfield unless Chas is stinking up the joint. I wish Altuve was a little more disciplined at the plate and the base paths. Hopefully Alvarez and Diaz heat up soon. We can not afford those two sitting it out.
It amazes me that neither our current manager or our former manager have realized that Dubon is filler. He’s the baseball equivalent of Bondo. He’s quality filler but he’s ****ing filler and should be used as such.
