You have to give the kids a chance. I can remember when a lot of our players looked like crap. Some of these guys take 3-4 years. Not everyone looks ready off the bat. Reed didn't make it to the NBA as a fluke. He's not White Chocolate but he has the size, athleticism, and real skill that he showed off tonight. I realize with our young team we couldn't give him the minutes but imagine where he would be if we did. He needed the rhythm and freedom of guaranteed minutes to establish consistency and confidence. We never gave that to him. We had to send him back to the Vipers for a game where he dropped 50 to remember he was that good. I like Cam, I don't want to throw him away as a gimme in a trade because he has talent but Reed has a lot of talent. He was picked high for a reason. No offense but none of the rookies are setting the world on fire and Reed certainly couldn't do it without minutes. I realize with FVV we couldn't do it and probably wouldn't have won 50 games but I believe if we started Reed the whole season he may have been ROTY and much further along.
This is why we need FVV out of here, so we can get Reed those minutes, and yes there will be growing pains....but the end result is much higher ceiling......wise. DD
Can you imagine Reed becoming what all the "experts" predicted he would become? The Rockets are going to be loaded for the next 5 seasons.
We have so many talented players on this team. But of all of the players we have, not a single one causes nearly as much chaos to a defense as Reed does from deep. Been multiple times this season I've seen teams looking like the bad guys from Home Alone slipping on oil trying to prevent him from getting a shot off. It's wild. Shame it took him so long to get adjusted but damn hes fun to watch.
I am SHOCKED at how well Reed has looked after his injury. Granted his mins have come against tanking teams in blowouts but compared to the his mins at the start and middle of the season it is night and day. He finally looks like the top 3 pick Rockets drafted. Sengun, Amen, Tari, Jabari and now Reed. Maybe the issue with Jalen is he is too durable and never got injured for an extended period of time. If Jalen gets a hammy and is out for 10 games maybe he is a superstar when he comes back lol.
Lets get real Jazz scrubs did not do any D. His OKC performance was much measure. I hope Ime uses him and we can see whether he can hit against proper defense.
