[Woj] Chicago Trades Alex Caruso for Oklahoma Josh Giddey

I dunno man, it looks like a recipe for the 2nd apron.

Their contract situation is honestly weird they have amazing talent on the roster but all their role players seems overpaid lol.

Once Jaydub and Chet are eligible for extensions its hard to see them having money for anyone else.

 

Once Nikola Topic settles in and plays well and they draft shooters, I can see them give up Isaiah Joe.......and they keep doing that with their draft picks.

Give up 1 or 2 players every 2 years.

Caruso is probably getting dealt because for all his Defense, he is 30 years old (the oldest) he does not fit the time line.......and he is not as important as Hartenstein. (He is valuable in the Playoffs but a luxury during the regular season)

The Thunder are drafting incredibly well so that they could just keep on drafting elite role players and rotate other players out.

 

Harteinstein at 30M and Caruso at 20M are overpaid roleplayers its gonna be hard for OKC to dump them later on. Maybe they'll use a lot of their picks to get rid of them.

Although I really like Wiggins and Kenrich over Isaiah Joe etc due to the smaller contract and performance.

Hartenstein is there for 2 more years which is actually not much, Caruso is more concerning as he inked a 4 year deal.

Hartenstein is the best C that is not an All Star and not named Sengün, Chet, Wemby.

If Hartenstein signed a deal today, it would be for slightly more money and 4 years.

That is how impressive he has been .....Walking 12 and 10 guy in 25 minutes right now.....which gets you overpaid.

 

Uh no. Goga Bitadze off the top of my head lol. Zubac? Domantas Sabonis? Saying he'll be paid more than Derrick White is wild.

 

This. People still lag behind and fail to take into account the new TV deal and the rising cap. Salary cap could be 171M in 2026-27.

Good for Josh Giddy because he gets a lot of floor time on a bad team playing meaningless games.
Good for OKC because he didn't fit around SGA, J-Dub, Chet and didn't fit the team on either end of the floor. Opponents would target Giddy on both ends in tight games.

 

Imagine if he played a lick of defense, any team would have rolled the dice on him early on....well, off to the next project.

Buzelis is interesting.....dude is mobile as heck and 6'10.

 

Josh Diddy has been ballin.

The thing for him is will he ever develop to be the type of player that has the ball in his hands all game on a great team. Because, if that's not the case, it will be tough to incorporate him.

 

Honestly if they were gonna pay Caruso 20M I would rather have kept Giddey.

Like I said before OKC has some extremely overpaid role players.
