Fvv has to go. He brings nothing for this team in the end.

With extensions kicking in for Jalen and Sengun it's better to keep him and move him in a trade. We won't have any cap space to add an impactful player this offseason.

That makes zero sense, unless he takes alot less money. I feel like our young guys are ready. And if we adding players we seriously don't need him.
I was hoping we trade him this season but we did nothing.

Dude isn’t even a NBA player, I don’t know how he made it to the league. He has no athleticism. He can’t shoot, he’s not a good passer, not a good defender, he’s slow, he’s a terrible finisher in the paint. What is he good at besides walking the ball up the court? But Ime wanted him over Harden & Stone dumbass gave him 40 million a year. That’s more than Kobe and Jordan ever made in a year.

I’d rather pick up his option & trade his expiring contract to a team that’s trying shed salary. I hate Fred but I know Ime loves him for some odd reason. I got a bad feeling the rockets are going to extend his ridiculous contract. If they do that, it’s over for this team. Might as well blow it up and build around Ime & Fred.

I dont think Fred can be your starting pg if you have championship aspirations. I think hes served his purpose as a bridge player but this off season its time to move on.

Picking up his option is so expensive, I rather let him walk or sign him for dirt cheap. There's so many good free agents this year. I'm ready to move on from Fred. It's time to take the trading wheels off and see what the youngins can do.

    Fred sucks.

40 million per season is a joke.

**** Me too, I want him gone now. I don’t even want to wait until the off-season. I never liked his game even when he played in Toronto. He’s not an NBA player imo. But letting him walk would force us to use one of our young assets(for salary matching purposes) in a trade for a Star or key contributor this off season. I’d rather pick it up just to trade him. But I’m not sure how soon he can be traded after his team option is picked up. We may have to talk to BimaThug about that one. If the phx pick is a lottery pick they gone want it before the draft. They won’t sit around and wait on us to figure out what we doing with Fred trash ass. If we can’t trade him immediately, I’d let him walk.

Even if we let him walk we won't be under the cap enough to get anybody useful. Declining his option and letting go of all the non guaranteed guys like Jock and Holiday still only yields like $12M in cap space in today's NBA that gets you bench depth, not an impact player; remember Sengun and Jalen are getting HUGE raises starting this summer. We won't have cap space for a while. That's why it's better to keep Fred and his high salary for just one more season as a trade chip. Not sure what's hard to grasp about this fact.

You could package his $43M salary and any combination of future picks for an established star player pretty easily without having to move on from any other core player. If we let him walk that is no longer possible.

I'm not the biggest LaMelo Ball fan but for example we could absolutely move Fred's salary + picks for him, or Booker or Durant or Giannis or literally any other max player.

The team option date on his contract isn't until June 29th (after to draft) so theoretically we could even deal him to a team like Boston on draft night that is way over the second apron for salary relief (they could decline the option and thus shed a ton of luxury tax savings). Derek White or Kristaps would be great non-star options.

Guys... chill. We all know Fred sucks. I want him gone as much as anybody else.

Declining the option is just poor cap management. That's all I'm saying.

I would immediately move for a Durant trade and use him. You can immediately trade a player on an option. You are not signing him, you are keeping a player already signed.

its scary to think what numbers sengun would be putting up if harden was on this team as the lead guard instead of FVV

zubac went from a 77 overall before this season to a 89 overall last i checked on nba 2k25.. one of the craziest in-seasons overall jumps i have ever seen since playing 2k for more than a decade now

If we pick up fred player option that's 44 million, I don't think there's a team out there that would take that. I would just let him walk and try to extend bari and tari for a bargain.
I wouldnt mind to resign fred for a cheaper deal but him coming off the bench and take a lesser role.

I think the question you have to ask yourself is a simple one:

Can this team win a championship with FVV as the starting the PG with his current level of play.

Before you answer YES, he did it with Toronto, remember that Kyle Lowry was the starting point on that team, Danny Green was the starter at the 2 spot & Kawhi Leonard at the 3 - FVV had only 28 starts for the year (Lowry was out for 17 games).
FVV did not start a single game in the post season. He was the 6th man on that team.

Now recall that they caught every break along the way .... especially injuries to opponents - Embiid, Giannis wasn't 100%, Malcolm Brogdon missed time, KD with the Achilles tear in game 5 then Klay Thompson tears an ACL in game 6, Kevon Looney had broken ribs .... Everything fell into place for them.

I like a lot of what FVV does, he's a safe player .... but he is limited. He has no gravity because he is not a threat to attack the paint.
He's taken more shots (84) this season between 16ft out to the 3 point line (the lowest value shots in the game) than - at the rim (70), 3-10ft (79) and 10-16 ft (48).
He also can't beat guys off the dribble which results in relying on the pick and roll an awful lot - Add to that the snail's pace he plays at, more often than not they face a set defense - They don't get many easy shots.

There's really no mystery to why the offense struggles.

The numbers just aren't starting PG material, he's a safe guy to bring in and run the offense while one of your starting guards is taking a breather ....

This team needs better / more efficient production from the PG spot.

game after game, it just reconfirmed my belief again and again, FVV needs to go. He is total garbage on the court, and provided absolutely nothing.
