This is not a playoff team. Not even in the West. I'm happy Bregman is gone with his contract and we got something for Tucker so this is expected.
dont put too much stock in the first couple of weeks into the season. they have a long way to go. their offense will be better than this.
It's fair to asses after a few more series, but this seems like an issue that carried over from last season. Anemic offense.
Yordan started out last season 3-24 and was just fine, Walker and Yainer have hit into some tough luck. I don't really see anything to be concerned about at this point (nothing really could be after 4 games), but I know sky is falling is the default position of sports fans.
It's too early to draw conclusions about anything. I'm not personally expecting a lot from this season, but its way too soon to know anything at all about how it might go based on 4 games.
I would agree, its 4 games in but yea our offense has not been good. That was a tough watch and to make it worse I had to watch Montero come in and **** the bed as if we didn't know he wasn't very good...............its early but we suck at home. I thought the Unis were sweet but not the socks or hat, I like how Walker wore his pants low, not a fan of the orange socks and that hat SUCKS, the batting helmets look like a Braves color combo..............but these Uni`s beat last year's blue on blue
The fans that showed up should have gotten a refund. Maybe losing Tucker and Bregman wasn’t a wise move.
I was fine with getting all the bench players into the game in the 3rd game, but shuffling the lineup like that for yesterday was stupid imho. They need to give their best 9 players consistent playing time to get in a rhythm. Still, the most concrete takeaways from the first 4 games are the 2-2 record (meh) and SP performances (great). 10-15 more games before we can start judging the offense.
Getting your best players into rhythm makes sense. The problem is that I don’t think the Stros know who those players are. Rodgers found out on the last day of Spring Training he’d even made the roster. I don’t know that’s he’s even on this roster in June, much less one of our best. I’d make a wager that Dubon finishes the season with better stats. Our 8 regulars playing last night went 3 for 27 with one xbh against a mid SP on a non contending Giants team.
Yep. I'm not sure who the best lineup is, but I don't think anyone should have a strong opinion on who the 9th best position player for the Astros is.
King Tuck with 3 straight games with a HR. The Astros as a team ....1 HR. It's early ... And the typical early season Astros offensive slump.... But ugh
Yeah I don’t have a strong opinion on who the 7/ A9 guys should be, but do feel strongly that Houston should commit to an everyday 2B and RF (and CF) and stick with them for 100-200 pa to get an answer. Playing Rodgers 30-50% of the time isn’t going to tell Houston if he is the answer or not.
watched some condensed game . Man , i know our offense wasn't great , but the way hicks was getting those corners early on with his 100 mph fastball cant have made things easy. Our defense doesn't look very good. Do we have an outfielder on the roster who has even an average arm ? Smith may be that guy , but his lack of experience in the OF does not help him. SF was taking extra bases all game long. Rodgers did look good at 2B . I really dont think Meyers brings enough , but right now hes the saving grace in our OF. Maybe Dubon rounds into form a bit, but he is not a great defender either .. merely passable. Marisnick and Springer spoiled us.
