If everybody was just rah, rah, rah all the time, the GARM would be a ghost town. Sports talk is all about debate
I laugh at post like this. Turning around a franchise in 4 years isn't easy. Not only did we eventually have draft picks, but the most cap space in the nba. Easy? Lol. What's funny is I'm 100% sure you were one of the many idiots who said signing Brooks was horrible and that Stone needed to be on the hotseat. Now that it's shown to be a huge positive it's "meh". Stone cant win with some of you Stone needs to be considered for GM of the year
Stop gap? Lmaooo. Almost everybody including you i believe said he couldn't shoot & wasn't really a good defender. Dude is currently our best 3pt shooter & reliable defender. Top teams would lining up to sign Dillon Brooks. Stone outsmarted almost everybody signing Brooks & FVV
Both FVV and Dillon were great signings, but they were/are stop gap. They should become quality bench players if not traded.
Also the Executive or as you put it GM of the Year award is done by the 29 other GMs....... Doubt every GM thinks like you but he has moved to the Top 8 or Top 10 .....
Yeah outside of OKC there aren't 8 executives or GM's that have done what we've done. We were in last place a few years back now are on the verge of 50 wins. That is a masterful job by Rafael Stone
I agree, but he won’t sniff executive of the year. Ime may get some COY consideration if we finish 2nd in West.
The point is he deserves it given the results. Who's had the turn around Stone's had after a 4 year rebuild? 95% of this board was wrong about Stone
Thank God this was the case. Can you imagine if 95% of them were right lol Also has tilman been cheap? That was also a common theme
It has been an up and down with Fertitta, but if you want to praise Stone, there is no way to forget about Tilman. Tilman decided to go thru the draft, he ordered Stone to get the talent, and he also was involved in getting Udoka on board. Other owners don't interfere, but that one did....and this time he did well and he also helped finance the expensive practice facility.
I genuinely don't know how people can still be b****ing about Stone. Who else has turned around this quickly? OKC started their rebuild when they traded Westbrook to us for CP3, Detroit have been rebuilding since damn near 2011 in truth. We've turned this around so quickly that Stone's more than earned himself a few more years to see what else he can achieve, y'all are weird.
Correct. I think that narrative was created due to Morey's left over stans disguised as Rocket fans. We gotta look at who's spreading these narratives & letting them know we haven't forgotten
Do they mention it in Miami, in Boston, in San Antone.....enough folks will. Folks who don't know about movies, never mention anyone outside the stars and the director, it happens. Presti is also the Vice President of BBall Operations, he is much higher in the food chain. He oversees everything in the organization, may that be Food intake, Masseurs, Recovery, Video room and development etc....... You are comparing a main worker to an architect of the whole organization/whole league in the snippet below.
Just circling back to this how ridiculous is it some posters here wanted Stone fired just cuz he didnt get a backup pg at the deadline? Stone got the Rockets to a 2nd seed and some of y'all wanted him fired? Talk about tunnel vision and making mountains out of mole hills. Trading Luka Doncic who got the Mavs to the Finals just cuz he was fat. Firing Jenkins who got Grizz to the 4rth seed and blaming him after like 8 guys are injured the entire season. I believe Grizz had a starting lineup of undrafted and vet min guys at one point. Nico Harris and Grizzlies GM are in sync with some of the posters here. Very short sighted people who dont see the big picture and just want to complain all the time. Also takes what has been accomplished for granted and thinks any tom dick or harry can build a second seed team in just 4 years from the ground up.
Presti's the GM. Nothing happens without the Owner's approval, so essentially OKC's owner "ordered" Presti to make moves like Tilman. Either way any NBA GM works for their respective owner. The narrative that Stone's solely accountable for all the not so good moves he made, but the many wonderful moves he's done is credited to Tilman further proves you just don't like Stone and he can't win no matter how much he's helped this organization
You truly are petty are you? I'm glad that the team is where it is right now and I am sure Ime and Stone had some tough conversations during that stretch. Everything I am expecting for the team to succeed. I do hope the team carries out a good showing during the playoffs but I still think Stone has a lot to prove to take this team to the next phase this offseason which is to get the team to that championship banner.
