Might be a little unrealistic, but this is what I'm hoping for: R1: BPA Oline or Trade down and BPA Oline R2: Trey Henderson R3: Kyle Williams R3: DT - Walker (I like him even though others don't) or Caldwell R3/4 (Asset from trade down): BPA IOL R5: Blocking TE - Hawes
I dont normally mess around with trades but needed to in order to get the prospects i liked. Let me know: Hou 1.25 & 3.89 to LV for 2.37,3.68, & 4.108 2.37 D. Jackson - starter at LG for the foreseeable 2.58 A. Collins - NT to draw doubles and ruin run games 3.68 M. Taylor - will be seeing a lot of 12 personnel with Caley if this were to happen 3.79 C Grant - give him a year in the strength/conditioning program and see if he turns into a premier LT 4.108 D. Thornton - 6'5'' deep threat with 4.3 speed 5.166 V. Broughton - prob a reach but 3T depth with some pass rush 7.236 H/W/S special teamer 7.241 H/W/S special teamer
I like D Jackson. I hope he would still be available at 37. Collins will be a good player, but not a scheme fit. Texans run a 4-3 or 4-2-5 defense. They shy away from slow heavy NT. They want their DT to be on the lighter side, fast and looking to slip through the OT line. Emphasis on team speed. Taylor is going to be a perennial Pro Bowler so I like the pick. I have no faith in Grant becoming a player in the league. There's a reason he was at William & Mary and not at a SEC school. Thornton and Broughton are good picks at where you got them. I hope the Texans trade away their 7th round picks. There's no room on the roster for 7th rounders. Trade both for a 6th next year. Caserio, again has signed a lot of free agent talent to compete for positions on the roster.
NT isn't just in 3-4 defenses. Tim Settle and Fitukasi aren't fleet of foot linemen nor is Sheldon Rankins for that matter. I do like Tyleik Williams in round 2 if Cap prefers more bumble interior kineben though. Just would like an interior lineman to take some heat off our ends.
The Texans rotate the entire Defensive line to keep these guys fresh. If your drafting a DT in Day 1 or Day 2 then you need to draft a player that really fits what you are doing in your defensive scheme. I see Mason Graham, Darius Alexander, TJ Sanders and Kenneth Grant as really good scheme fits on Day 1 and Day 2. On Day 3 of the draft, you can be more selective and look at guys that are not ideal scheme fits but may work better in certain down situations. If your looking at NT in Day 3, then good examples would be Jamaree Caldwell or CJ West.
