TSLA has been at a "death cross" for 5 trading days, where the 20-day moving average (short term trend) dips below all the longer term moving averages (50/100/200)

    T I M B E R !!
over the past 5 trading days, TSLA has risen 10 points, closed at ~~248,
i think it is a trap, as the current down trend will continue towards closing the 210 GAP

decided to sell a 40-point bearish CALL spread on TSLA, using 16 May 2015 expiration

    • buy to open the 270 strike CALL option contract
    • sell to open the 230 strike CALL option contract
      • collecting a premium of $18.90, for which i am willing to assume the max risk of $40

Tesla should report earnings in late April - early May.

By going with the May 16 options expiration instead of the April expiration, you put on a trade that spans an Earnings Report which some people are quite reluctant to do.

I am not second guessing or criticizing since I expect poor numbers from Tesla wen they report. Just noting that you are more aggressive than some (many?) by going with the May expiration.

as do I; that is the reason why I sold the bearish CALL spread.

    collect a premium up front,
let the time value of the options i sold decline,
and the expected bad Earnings data to drive the intrinsic value down.

    i expect the CALL spread i sold will end up being worthless;
thus i get to keep all the premium collected
just the opposite, i am being conservative.
look up time decay on options. i expect a bad earning report, particularly the units produced data. should it show a second consecutive Qtr of decline in production,
that alone will drive the price down to close the211 gap

Reddit has some of those types of discussions at

    Thetagang

Sometimes they go into a detailed explanation and other times other times they just give the specifics of the trade.

AMZN is trading ~~ 203, aftering finding the floor in the 190 range for about 2-3 weeks; it has been trading above 200, as well as its 200 dma for a week.
its next earning report is scheduled foe 6 May 2025, ~~ a month after the tariffs war begins

decide to make a bet on AMZN trading above 220 on the earning release date, using the 6 May 2025 options contracts

I sold this bullish 20-point PUT spread

    • buy to open the 190 strike PUT
    • sell to open the 210 strole PUT
    • collected a premium of $8.4 which
      • defines my max risk to be $11.6
for the $8.4 premium received in advance, I am willing to assume the potential liability for the size of the bullish spread, $20

on expiration day, i want to see this spread to become worthless; it will be should AMZN trade above $210

I don't think Chinese stocks are going away.

There's always a chance an invasion or something leading up to it will tank it, but it'll also tank everything else.

Liberation Day (April 2) approaches. I can feel the freedom of being parted from my investment dollars.

The germans just invested hundreds of billions in their economy. The European market is on fire right now. Its up over 12% this year and on a tear.

Trump is making Europe great again. I love it

Have a little in Euro stock, quite a bit in cash but the majority in bonds. I’ve been totally out of US stocks for a few weeks. Not happy with where it’s at but better that losing money at this point. I have no idea when I’m getting back in but it’s not now.

Can we fire this guy? I mean he’s still in his probationary period right?

Trump pardons Nikola founder Trevor Milton in securities fraud case

    https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/28/tru...on-ceo-securities-fraud-electric-vehicle.html

The pardon came two weeks after federal prosecutors urged District Court Judge Edgardo Ramos to order Milton to pay restitution of $680 million to Nikola shareholders, and another $15.2 million to Peter Hicks, a victim of his wire fraud.

Because of the pardon, Ramos now cannot order restitution of any kind.

If you were badgholder in NKLA you were dumb, but guess you aren't getting any of your money back either.
