It would be damn impressive to look at if they restored the white outer layer. And I don't see why that would be criminal to do since that's how they were supposed to look back in the day anyway. This is one of those cases where restoration should outweigh conservation.
That's a lot of limestone to source to restore it - unless you're talking about going to your local Sherwin Williams store and getting a few gallons of SW7006 to touch the pyramids up.
I checked the paint code… did you look it up for the bit or did you know it off the top of your head?
We don't have the technology to do this. I know very little of limestone but I don't think you apply it like concrete.

I always wonder what the explanation is for the aliens using stone to build ancient structures. Why would they care to use the then current human known material. Were their spaceships made of stone?
