Yes he was, people just underate him. Sengun is good, but he isn't all time good. Some of you are just too young to have seen years of players.....so lack context. DD
I am 48 years old and I watched every single game in which Scola played. I watched him at home and I watched him in person (many times). I know exactly how good he was. And he wasn't anywhere near as good as Sengun.
You sound arrogant and silly when you say things like this. I'd say it's likely the majority of posters on this forum watched Scola play.
his percentages will improve, he will use free throws better, these are things that can be fixed BUT when I watch jalen or amen, I see these guys trying to be stars and get there, I don't know if they will be or not, time will tell, but I don't see any effort in alperen, he wants to be a role player, there is no aggression %0 percent, even if you don't pass the ball, he won't want to pass for a while, I'm sorry alperen, if he continues with this mentality, he will be a role player in 2-3 years. Last year I thought he would really be a star because he had a serious impact on the matches, when was the last time you said that alperen was aggressive and played very effectively in this match this year? I'm not talking about numbers, I'm talking about dominating the game and he's far, far behind last year.
You are the worst at player assessment. I really liked Scola, but he wasn't nearly as good as Sengun is already much less in a couple of years. Scola would get eaten alive in today's NBA. Sengun's defense has improved leaps and bounds and I think his effort on that side of the floor has impacted his offense with fatigue. It be great for Sengun to get a 3 point shot, but he should double down on strength and conditioning this off-season.
Teams have adapted to his post game. In the process they are giving up the mid-range and 3-point shots, but Sengun can't make them pay consistently. I don't think there's any decision to be less aggressive outside of him knowing his limitations against certain defenders and certain defenses.
Majority of people on this forum watched Scola, it wasn’t that long ago. I’d say most of us are 30s and up, with a good portion in their 40-50s. Scola was never the player Alp was. He was good, but not Alp level. ScoLandry was fun to watch
Yes he was. Not only was Scola better in the post his midrange was a sight to see. Luis Scola only problem was he played next to Yao and didn't get many touches. Sengun wish he had Scola's craftiness around the basket
Stop,,.. Yao was always hurt scola had plenty of opportunities. Coaches didn't double him like they do Sengun. Let Sengun play 1 on 1 and it's over.
