I know it’s fun to try to associate role with performance, but I’m not so sure his shooting is related to his bench role. I think this is just him! recall, the first 12 games he shot miserably — 38% and 25% from 3. then he woke up and 21 games after that as starter he shot 47-41-87 so, the starter to bench comparison isn’t statistically relevant if we discount his brief, poor start. I just think he’s been demonstrating being a legit 40% 3pt shooter since Mid-November which is great news
can’t start a guard who can’t shoot from 3 - dribble / pass under pressure - it would be the Westbrook experiment again ….. I’m praying Amen jumper develops more this summer
Maybe org should consider paying in half seasons as players have been showing up only for 30-40 games.
Westbrook was inefficient. Amen is not. Also, Amen is a better defender. Early returns are that FVV and Amen PG-SG lineups destroy opponents with unsustainably good offenses and out-of-this-world great defenses. I'm not sure offenses would work as well once opponents see them more, but playing plus defenders at PG, SG, SF, and PF makes it really tough on offenses.
No. The Tari and Amen combo off the bench is what we need to bring back. Those guys were disruptive together
I dont think its him coming from the bench its that he gets more shots if he is coming from the bench. For some reason Sengun never passes to Jabari only passes to FVV, Jalen and DB. The reality is Jabari should be our full time starter at PF. He is the perfect complement to Sengun and Jalen Ime should just make it a point he is part of the offense.
If they could just be league average on free throws they would have locked it up by now. Look at all the games they lost and and look at how many free throws were missed. There's your wins.
Young players do have a tendency to be wildly inconsistent. It's crazy we've been the 2 seed for so long.
No sh*t, it's because he should be starting lol Too good for the bench. Wish we had his wingspan and rebounding plus being able to hit 40% of his 3's. Oh wait.... Jabari's wrist injury really saved Brooks' job. We were on the brink of Amen simply unseating Brooks for the SF position, then injury bailed him out. Frankly Brooks earned it too I wouldn't call it luck. Showed up in great shape and with a much improved jumper. What's infuriating me more is that Jabari is not getting his 30 minutes sometimes off the bench and the team can clearly use a breather.
It was a joke but some of those young ones are oddly consistent at being inconsistent or have their specific months....... It is probably the 2nd time that he started the season slow......or third time even.
Which we should beat him to the punch. If Jabari goes off in the postseason in his bench role, I have no problem selling high. I’ve watched Jabari as a starter 3 and half season to know he’s underwhelming in that role
Maybe the other team emphasizes keeping a man close to Jabari since Jabari is a good three point shooter
Not sure. Tari was always pushing for Jabari's spot. I thought Amen was pushing Brooks. Jabari getting hurt allowed Brooks to slide to the 4 with Amen taking the 3. I just don't know how long Ime will stick with FVV, Green, Amen, Brooks, and Sengun if it keeps performing poorly.
I want to update this statement. I went and did an analysis on the 26 games lost and of those games I found only 4 games that we definitively shot ourselves in the foot by missing free throws. They were: 1. 12/27 - Wolves - Shot 63% - 7 missed - would have won by 6 2. 1/30 - Grizzlies - Shot 78% - 6 missed - would have won by 5 3. 2/4 - Nets - Shot 66% - 9 missed - would have won by 7 4. 3/23 - Nuggets - Shot 64% - 12 missed - would have won by 7 Those 4 wins would have the Rockets at 51-22, a .699 win % and a lock on the playoffs right now.
I still feel more comfortable bringing Eason off the bench. He provides an energy Jabari just doesn't have. His next contract is going to be interesting. I think it's in our best interest to let other teams set the value.
Dillon has been an unquestioned starter this season because he is already paid, and the team wants to maximize his value externally (which has worked incredibly well). Jabari and Tari don't get paid until this summer, so it's not in the organization's interest to elevate them until then. It's small potatoes... but why do you think Jabari and Tari weren't in that Slam magazine piece, but Dillon was? Why do neither get much PR? Because up until the point they get the long term extension, it's in our FO's interest to reinforce these guys as interchangeable background pieces. Once they get paid on reasonable extensions, it will become clear that both are long-term "core" pieces with unquestioned status in the team. Until then, no.
