Not only does this show the amateurish behavior of all of them, GOD help us with this group of lying traitors who care more about their orange king then for National Security. They will follow their own way, legal or otherwise and then lie when caught. Now they want to blame the dude who reported it and now everyone just "misremembers" what happened less then 2 weeks ago and lied yesterday.....................all the buffoonery happening in the background will come back to haunt us, everyone in the chat is not qualified to be in their position and it shows. There would be a dam riot if Biden`s admin did this.......................It is Armature Hour at the WH, will they have the balls to fire someone over this...........I am waiting for them to blame a low-level staffer and say they have fired them because GOD knows it's not in any of them to say, THIS IS ON ME and I resign

Are you pulling a corp IT admin card? One thing Cons liked to bring up against Hillary was that she only carried one device for both personal and official use. The official use device is generally more hardened than an iphone or android but shittier and slower to play with because it's gov made.

I don't think your "commercial" phone can access SIPRNet or JWICS.

Ok, news to me. It's open source, so it's possible.

All I know is that signal isn't officially approved, and the CISA rec is more like "if you're on a commercial device, please for the love of God, USE E2E ENCRYPTION for your msgs".

Well, we used to not have safety seals on products until 1982, when someone tampered with Tylenol bottles and put poison in 'em. Tylenol brilliantly turned a negative PR situation completely around, spearheaded the idea of making tamper-proof containers, and became a champion of safety (at the time). Sheer marketing genius. Now we have safety seals on almost every product.

A retired general tore into Trump Cabinet members for endangering military personnel by using a messaging app to discuss military strikes.

“This was an egregious breach of security that put Navy combat fliers at risk,” Barry McCaffrey, a four star general, told MSNBC’s José Díaz-Balart on Wednesday.

“If this had been a Navy Lieutenant commander talking to an Air Force Major, they both would’ve been fired and probably court martialed.”

McCaffrey stated that Trump officials should have never planned the bombing of Houthi forces in Yemen on the Signal app, stating that it was “obviously” classified as it was a “pending military operation.”

President Donald Trump and other members of the group chat, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have all tried to shrug off The Atlantic's bombshell report, claiming that no classified information was exchanged in the group chat.

“I’ll reiterate that there was no classified material that was shared,” Gabbard insisted under oath before a Senate panel Tuesday.

But on Wednesday, Hegseth was revealed to have texted the exact timings of when U.S. military fighter pilots would launch their attacks, after previously redacted messages were released.

“TIME NOW (1144et): Weather is FAVORABLE. Just CONFIRMED w/CENTCOM we are a GO for mission launch,” Hegseth wrote, continuing, “1215et: F-18s LAUNCH (1st strike package).”

McCaffrey said the use of the Signal app was a “major breach in protocol” and showed “outrageous incompetence on the part of the most senior officers in government.”

The general stressed that officials should have used the “multi-million dollar” systems specifically designed for discussing sensitive military operations, such as a sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF).

He argued that it was now crucial to investigate what else might have been leaked to adversaries from the group chat.

“We should also assume that, if you’re not in government systems, you’re on commercial encryption, many foreign intelligence agencies have probably penetrated it,” he said.

Its sincerely hilarious how you right wingers do nothing other than spin whatever in the name of yalls orange messiah. Your cult leader installed a fox news host as head of the Pentagon while you folks cry about DEI all say. Take responsibility for once in your life

None of this would be a big deal at all if these morons hadn't complained about DEI for the past 5 years. They b**** about "merit based hiring" but then put a foxnews host with zero management experience to run an agency in charge of 2 million individuals.

The lawsuit over Signalgate was just assigned to one of Trump’s least favorite judges

U.S. District Judge James Boasberg — the object of President Donald Trump’s fury for blocking his effort to summarily deport Venezuelan nationals using wartime powers — just got a second crack at the administration’s handling of national security: Signalgate.

Boasberg on Wednesday morning was assigned to preside over a lawsuit alleging that Trump cabinet secretaries and national security aides violated federal recordkeeping laws when they used a Signal chat group to discuss a planned military strike in Yemen — and inadvertently included an Atlantic journalist in the group.

The twist of legal fate arrived just as the scandal exploded further with the Atlantic’s release of the full text exchange — in which Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth previewed, with specific references to timing and weapons, an attack on Houthi militants. The exchange, initiated by national security adviser Mike Waltz, included Hegseth, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard and CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

A spokesperson for Boasberg confirmed that the case was assigned to him through the court’s typical random assignment process. There are 20 judges on the federal district court bench in Washington.

The assignment of the case to Boasberg comes just two days after the Trump administration, in the Venezuela deportation case, invoked the “state secrets” privilege to refuse to share details with the Obama-appointed judge about the timing of deportation flights to El Salvador.

Boasberg is pressing the administration for details about the flights to determine whether officials violated his order earlier this month barring Trump from deporting people under the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 law last invoked during World War II. But administration lawyers argued that “disclosure would pose reasonable danger to national security and foreign affairs.”

Rubio, notably, submitted a declaration to Boasberg justifying the state secrets invocation, saying that sharing details about the flights with Boasberg — even under seal or in a classified setting — would endanger national security.

“The more widely information is shared the greater the risk that the information will reach the public (even if unintentionally),” Rubio wrote.

Now, Rubio is a defendant in the Signalgate lawsuit brought by American Oversight, a left-leaning government watchdog group. He is being sued not only for his involvement in the text exchange but also for his dual position as acting head of the National Archives, which is responsible for preserving records used by government officials in the course of their work. The Atlantic reported that Waltz set the text thread to automatically delete.

Boasberg prompted a furious backlash from Trump and his allies when he halted the administration’s deportation efforts earlier this month, ruling that the administration appeared to be violating due process requirements by tagging Venezuelan nationals as terrorists and rushing them onto planes with virtually no chance to contest the designation.

Trump called for Boasberg’s impeachment, a call that was echoed by some members of Congress, and has unleashed near-daily attacks on the judge.

If I'm an ally of the US I'm extremely concerned about the utter incompetence of how this entire situation played out but if I'm an adversary I'm licking my chops...

I remember when a lot of the “enlightened centrists” here were all about Tulsi, and were willing to overlook her Russian speaking points.

How you feeling about her now?

I've heard this line from Republican talking heads - this is Joe Biden's fault. Fox is on board:

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bi...-highly-targeted-govt-officials-best-practice

Dark Brandon strikes again. He set this trap by preloading Signal on the incoming Trump cabinet level appointees phones. This is the same Joe Biden that acted half-senile while sitting in his basement in 2020, yet still managed to steal an election from the most powerful man in the world. And when he came across as senile in the 2024 Presidential debate, that was only an act, as well.

Kind of reminds me of this guy:

I did not say it was Joe Biden's fault. I said Signal is authorized, and was used by prior admins. The use of Signal is not the issue, nor is anything that was said in the chat.

adding Goldberg to the chat is the issue.
