If I had to decide at this point, I think it will. If you weigh the PLUSES vs MINUSES. Pluses 1) Cam gives Jalen more minutes to rest 2) Cam brings an additional athletic presence (rebounding, speed, power, etc.) 3) Cam can not mess up anymore than Tari 4) Cam with Jalen brings an additional scoring wing Minuses 1) Cam bring defense lapses(So does others) 2) Cam has an attitude (Playing time will alleviate that)
We simply aren’t good enough to be a threat in the playoffs. Anything past the first round is found money. You just keep looking towards the future while not understanding the present.
@hlmbasketball, is there any possible way you can actually put an entire thought in your thread titles? This clickbaiting stuff is irritating AF. We get enough of it elsewhere online, can we leave it out of CF?
You say that and for the most part, I'd agree ..... Then you look at the teams record against the other playoff teams Swept Cleveland split Boston split NYK split Milwaukee split Indiana OKC has had their number They've had Memphis number GSW .... 1 win in the last 5 years? 2-1 Vs Denver 1-0 VS LAL 3-0 VS LAC If things fell just right, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for them to make it out of the 2nd round. As is stands right now, they'd get the Clippers in round one and the winner of Denver GSW in round two, a GSW win is probably lights out for the season, but they've shown they can beat Denver .... If Jalen & Sengun can get hot for a stretch .... who knows what can happen.
I get what you are coming from. But Playoff basketball is just different. From a coaching perspective to a mental perspective. A player struggling in their first playoff is not something to overlook. It's a lot of pressure. And all those teams have vets who are their top players who have been in these situations. We don't know how our guys will respond. They may struggle and then work hard to get back next year and do better, or they may shine bright and we go on a deep playoff run. A lot of unknowns that we won't know until we get there. With that being said, "Where is Cam?" Cam should get some minutes here and there. Especially when we are struggling. Devils advocate: I do believe what Ime is doing with the rotation is good. Good experience for the top guys to work through the tough moments and figure it out. That Denver game was a great example. A star goes off and they struggled. Well know they have that in their database to learn from just like all the close clutch games they put us through this year.
I don’t disagree but feel it’s more of separate issue from the general discontent around not playing certain players more minutes.
He should have gotten his minutes in the 4th, if Sengun and Holiday not trying to sell the game so hard
Like I said, I chose to look at the POSITIVE vs the NEGATIVE. The Rockets didn't get to #2 Seed in the West by accident. I think if we use all our players we can play with ANYBODY. We've beat; OKC, LAL, Minny, Memphis, GSW, Denver, etc. The only team we have not beaten in the West is Sacramento. Many people doubt our roster but 1) Jalen has the ability to take over games. 2) Alpi has the ability to score in the paint and draw fouls. 3) Amen has the ability to lock up any perimeter scorer. 4) Jabari is a shooter, defender and rebounder 5) Tari can and will out hustle anybody 6) Adams can out rebound anybody ALL WE'RE LACKING IS THAT POP OFF THE BENCH.....CAM WHITMORE
Love it. A bunch of yall that are trashing Udoka for playing FVV too much and Whitemore not enough, are probably the same ones that predicted this team would barely make it to the play-in tourney. The Rockets made a lot of great decisions to get to this point and are ahead of schedule. So you can't say out of the other side of your mouth that things are all screwed up. Quit ya b****ing.
Rockets are on the upswing and we got a war chest full of assets to use this offseason. Our team will most likely be different next season. Just need to enjoy the ride this season. Cam ain’t making or breaking anything
Boys on here really saying Cam would make a difference in the playoffs when it's obvious he ain't even making a difference in the damn practices..
Old timers like me know that there are very few practices during the season - so not much going on there. DD
I don't think any of us know for sure if Cam will make a difference or not in the Playoffs. However, based upon what we saw the last time he got true minutes, scoring 27pts against OKC, is that he can score! And if given minutes, he can definitely bringing another SCORING OPTION. And if Tari can get minutes, why can't Cam? That's what I'm saying.
You need a Tari type player come playoff time.. I'm not dismissing Cam's scoring ability but as we all know, the pace slows and chess is played in a 7 game series.. I'm not sure Kamikaze Cam is your best option at any point of a game , at least not at the moment..
Honestly, I dont know anything of his off court shenanigans - whatever they may be... I havent heard of him getting arrested... i havent seen Royce White level nonsense.... Whatever is going on - he's an asset and they shouldnt torpedo his value with a string of DNPs... If his conduct isnt so detrimental that u gotta send him home - then u use him. Give him some minutes, let him do whatever he can... and u move him in the offseason. Why let everyone know hes such a malcontent that he cant break the rotation? Do we want to have to be in a position where we have pay someone to take him off our hands?
I haven’t heard anything about him being a terrible person or criminal. From what I have heard, he is like a lot of young men his age. However - being a professional basketball player, especially one that missed time in high school and college requires qualities that a lot of young men don’t have by 20-21 years old. Unfortunately for Cam, the NBA doesn’t wait for the brain to catch up to the body. There is a reason Cam isn’t playing more and it’s because of on court mistakes that are not being changed in practice or preparation because of a lack of outlook/lifestyle that tends to create an environment to improve. It’s cruel in a lot of ways - but it’s the NBA reality.
Eh, I didn't mention specific players .... was more of a team thing. This team can beat any other (except for maybe OKC or GSW) on any given night. As far as Cam .... I don't know anything about the situation and don't want to make assumptions on why he isn't playing.
