Personally not a fan of RDJ getting recast as Dr. Doom. Doom should have been a new person. It can lead the casual Marvel fans astray. People, who don't read the comics will associate Tony as default Doom. Marvel is in a slump. But on the list of complaints, I'm going to defend Falcon as Cap somewhat. Wilson has been the new Cap in the comics for a decade now. It is source material. In general he's been with Steve Rogers for a very long time. People can still have their favorites. It's like if Bruce was sidelined, there's been others who have taken up the Bat cowel.
Eh, I have no tolerance for people who scream about woke all the time. And you never know who will become indoctrinated these days. It’s just old and tired and dumb. Find a real thing in life to put your energy into. And like I said, maybe it’s a joke. /shrug Yes, I’m a nerd.
In the MCU, I'm all about great stories, great characters, and great dialogue over all else - things that have been sorely lacking in their recent films and shows. I would strongly recommend giving control of the MCU to Favreau.
is this out yet? anyone seen it? good or naw? i'll settle for a ultron-level decent, but i expect better.
because his ironman started it all. plus he filmed ironman on the fly with the script still being written as they went along. imagine how much better if he had a full ready script from the beginning.
Also... remember when he started The Mandelorian? It was awesome (at first, while he was still driving it). The first great Star Wars content in years. Favreau is great at building and rebuilding great content.
No biggie. Marvel is using the well-proven formula of recycling when you are out of fresh ideas. Proven to fail.
I just checked in on this 8 hour long announcement thing and it seems like from a storytelling perspective they are going with a storytelling method similar to Infinity War with groupings that get pulled into a mission early on, and then come together in the climax by Doom. Groups - Cap's group of normie Avengers (Cap, Falcon, Ant-Man, Thor, Black Panther, Shang Chi) -Thunderbolts (Bucky, Red Guardian) -Fantastic Four -X-Men (Prof X, Mag, Nightcrawler, Gambit, etc..... And Marvels Monica Rambeu character who pulls them in) -Doom's storyline Maybe the story starts with something like Doom coming from the X-Men universe. Doom see's Monica Rambeu enter their universe as a threat, and needs to destroy her 616 universe for theirs to survive. Sends X-Men to 616 to do something (need some MacGuffin plot device) in the 616. Puts them at Odds with Avengers. Fan Four are in 616 at the end of First Steps for some reason. ThunderBolts have a plot device that connects them to Fan 4 storyline. Doom turns on everyone essentially, and in the end they see Doom as the real threat to kill the multi-verse, setup for Secret Wars... blah blah Or something like that... or nothing like that. Either way, I see the story structure based on the cast being fairly similar to how Infinity War was written. The trick is finding a good MacGuffin, a Deux ex Machina, and the emotional conflict which is the heart of the story. As a writer, if you can figure those three things out, these stories aren't that hard to write.
I think it's proven to make a ton of money. Hard to fail with something like this financially.... critically.... yeah I think Marvel is setting themselves up to fail pretty hard with the Secret Wars saga. They threw too many planets in orbit without a star in the middle to really create any cohesion. They are too big of fans of their own nostalgia, and source materials that they didn't at any point assume they needed a good story and new character arcs to ground whatever story they wanted to tell post EndGame. With Endgame though they got pretty lucky that they did have some decent character writing early on with Iron Man and Cap that they could latch onto to center their story. MAYBE they find something here that makes sense, but I just don't see it and pulling Robert Downey Jr. back in was the first warning sign to me that they truly have lost the plot... quite literally. Fck it though... I'll still watch.
