"Secure" should probably include safeguards to prevent you from accidentally inviting civilians to your super-secret military conversations. The pre-existing arrangement of top-secret video teleconferencing using government servers and pre-staged privacy tents for participants probably never made that mistake.

I think I can actually get comfortable with the government using Signal for official communication, even with top-secret stuff. If they have the protocols in place to make it actually secure. They very obviously do not. It's not enough to say, sorry he was next to the guy I meant to invite in my address book. There should be a whole process for authenticating participants. Trump Admin wants senior citizens to physically go to a Social Security Admin office to verify they are the correct recipient of benefits before changing deposit details, but they don't verify the participants in their warmaking conversations?
