Thanks for the memories. Will always remember the walk in game #5 2023 ALCS and the 2 HR game on your first game back.

Honestly one of my favorite players to watch. Both because of his personality and for the way he took a lot of pitches and always had a chance to crush a truly majestic home run. For a small time I thought he’d seize the 1B job and be a big time player for a couple seasons. I hope he catches on somewhere and is able to make a few million more dollars playing baseball before he’s forced to retire. But even if he doesn’t, he’s still an interesting story.

He lost a bunch of weight and built muscle in the off season and became a worse player.

I am a bit sad to seem him be released. He was such an inspirational story. A genuine likable guy. Dude always had a pleasant smile, and he tried so hard to get better.

MLB is just a different animal, the skill to put the bat on the ball is on another level. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason. Because you see how much Jon Singleton worked.

But thanks for the memories. I am very glad he got to play a whole season for the Astros, he showed the world he was a legit MLB player.

Hopefully he catches on with another team and keeps improving. Tough luck with the Astros, now that they are short on roster spots and plenty of deserving players.

Man, Ward had such a sweet swing. When he hit his beach ball, upper deck. In the ‘dome.

Not sure if/when someone replaced it with a longer one, but Anthony had the longest HR in the Dome...full blown upper deck in RF, they put a star on the seat. I wandered up there and sat in it for a bit one game, looked at home plate, and said "you gotta be kidding me"

eta: not sure if this is it, but you never see the ball land

The two longest I can think of were fairly early by the Toy Cannon and The Rooster.

Not to be a nitpicker, but that was not his first game back with the Astros.

Someone will pick him up, stick him at DH or 1b, and he will hit 30 home runs.

I legit think he just needs consistent playing time.
25 homers plus with an ops in the 750-800 range wouldn’t surprise me at all.

He had a couple of really good stretches of regular playing time last season and didn’t ever get a sustained hot streak. He had his chance. He still probably has value as a bench or platoon bat or as AAA depth, but he is extremely unlikely to ever get 400+ pa in a MLB season ever again.

He probably won’t do it because he doesn’t want to uproot his family, but he could probably spend the next 2-3 years in Japan or Korea and make a couple million bucks and be one of the best players in their league to finish out his career.

Yes, the 2-HR against the Angels was his first start since he returned.

His actual first game back was his PH appearance drawing a walk against the Orioles prior to King Tuck's grand slam.
