I feel you and understand. It's just the age though. He is at the point where he will become less effective every year and the threat of injury is higher every year. You are right in regards to fit though. He fits with every team ever of course. What he does for the Rockets even more than just adding his talent to a 73 win team like the Warriors is he brings up the biggest glaring weakness for the Rockets other than their youth. Which is a smart non ball dominant shooting sniper.

It's all about calculated risk. Durant is a star that relies on skill, not athleticism. LBJ is a bruiser that has been freakishly durable. If what happened to Kobe happened to him it would finish him. Before this season, I too thought about consolidation and acquiring a young star. After watching things play out, around the deadline I realized the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Acquiring Durant and even Harden could be the ultimate arbitrage between risk and cost. Both are "cheap" because they are declining stars. The arbitrage between their costs and a Booker or other young star is too good to ignore. You can stay young, keep your assets, AND acquire stars. The assets for a Booker or related player is the same as Ant and Luka and those are the only stars I would consider for the cost.

I’m in for KD if it means not giving up:

Sengun, Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Tari, Reed.

So basically KD needs to come here for cheap.

I think the only way we'd be able to get KD for cheap enough to make sense would be if he took away their leverage and said the only team he wants to play for is the Rockets. I don't see why he'd want to do that except maybe if we really exceed expectations and go to the WCF and put up a really good fight? Which would also make him make more sense for us.

I really wouldn't want to give up more than just this year's PHX pick, tbh. The 2027/2029 ones look juicy af.

KD hasn't led a team far in the playoffs since the Thunder team with Westbrook and Harden. The last two teams he's led have completely fallen apart despite having multiple all-stars alongside him. He gets paid so much, that we can't really even trade for him without giving up some vital pieces. And he's going to be 37 years old next year. I'm going to pass unless the dude agrees to waive half his remaining salary or something. And I don't see that happening.

The Rockets should not close the door on anything. The issue with a lot of young talent is that it can go to waste if there isn't a pathway for regular minutes. The problem with older stars are self-evident.
Targeting Booker is a tricker call, IMO.

I don't really know if he left the game early with an injury, but Ausar Thompson only played 9 minutes today. I realize he's dealt with the blood clot, but even when he's healthy it really doesn't seem like Detroit is playing him enough to gain confidence.

Anyway to heck with KD. I'm not willing to part with Sheppard, salaries, and their picks for what could turn out to be Paul George part 2. I wonder if there's any chance of landing Ausar.

Ausar had 3 fouls in the 1st quarter. Hope this was a teaching moment. It's just one game.

He gets plenty of minutes and has no complaints there.

I wouldn't give them FVV & nothing else much less that package plus the picks.

FVV makes them a more balanced roster, solves their cap problems and probably equates to more wins.

He can come sign as a free agent after next season .... or not.

Delusional for a dude on a one year deal .... that's almost 40.

I don't know If I'd do that if he agreed to a 3 year extension ..... there's no telling when the wheels fall off.

    Father time is undefeated.

We'll see. It's rumored that GS offered that or close to it before Durant shut down negotiations.

The dude is 36 years old and injury-prone. I do not know how people are suggesting giving up Tari for this.

I mean he did the spin move on you Kevin, you are too unreactive on Defense.

Kevin Durant is a huge liability on Defense.

Rockets need to move Forward with this Young Core and Develop, Gain Experience in the Playoffs. Not go Backward with Old Stars.
