The Cougars play some mean defense. I think they got tired towards the end. Unfortunately the Zags started free stroking with nothing left to loose. Plus the Refs got super whistle holy against the Cougars. The Zags seized the momentum, and the game got too close for comfort. But at some point the percentages do catch up, and Gonzaga ran out of the power-up. Make no mistake, the Cougars were the overwhelming better team, but Gonzaga had the talent to steal the game.
Purdue is another tough opponent. They were ranked as high as 6 during the season. They beat a #2 Alabama early in the season. They’ve beaten some quality opponents including Oregon and Michigan. They finished the season ranked around 20. They have talent and will be another tough test. But the Cougars should match up very well. I think Gonzaga was vastly under-seeded. Cougars definitely cannot overlook Purdue in anticipation of Tennessee.
Gonzaga shouldn't have had to play Houston in the 2nd round and Houston shouldn't have had to play Gonzaga in the 2nd round. That was ridiculous. Good game though!
Great game, fun to watch. LJ was awesome one offense and defense. Wilson has some big possessions. Sharp turning it over at half court without trying to drive or pass early then getting pulled. Uzan and LJ kept backing up from the press. They need to attack. Get off half court line, need a pick from Roberts. They'll get it corrected. Jo Jo played amazing but for once critical second. That foul stop or momentum we were about to go up by 16+. That gave them so much life. Refs got picky and let their big get away with constant banging on Javier. I knew it would be close but its was to close, had to do the mountain climbing walk to calm down. Congrats to Zags for the long run but know we own crown. Next one will be fun but I think we will play better. Go Coogs
Gonzaga was horribly underseeded, but we absolutely got stiff and dumb in the final 5 minutes. Can't do that against elite teams. Git r dun, Sampson. Booking my tickets to indy as we speak.
If you've never been to St. Elmo Steak House, go to St. Elmo Steak House (I imagine it'll be crowded as ****, make reservations now). Order the shrimp cocktail appetizer.
Purdue grad here. They are the best matchup UH could hope for. They have an unathletic backcourt that cannot punish pressure and I expect UH will have a field day with that. They will be a much easier opponent than Gonzaga. Tennessee is a completely different story. They have the talent to burn a pressing defense and give UH nightmares.
Pack your bags for Indianapolis and buckle up. When Wilson snagged that rebound, hedged, chased down Khalif to help cause the bobble, and then Francis went inflatable tube man to seal the deal, chills. We had an answer for every punch they threw. And they threw 'em. Lights out shooting, and we didn't blink. Cryer was on balance and all-american all night. Wooooooo! We are Together. Engaged. Connected.
