Thank you. I’d never heard of that site, I’ve been having fun looking at the past season rankings and winners.
If they don't call fouls on Gonzaga's aggressive trapping, like when they stole it from Uzan, then the refs shouldn't have called fouls on the Cougars' defense of Ike in the post. One side can't be allowed to go all out on defense on one end while the other side has to guard on egg shells.
Should've been easy win. I'll take it against this team. Onto the next team...hopefully the refs don't fck it up.
UH vs Purdue Well, Purdue lost to wisconsin wisconsin lost to BYU UH crushed BYU twice so, by the rules of the ncaa tournament, purdue wins going away.
And they couldn't miss a FT either The flagrant foul was the biggest contributing factor IMO. 1) turnover 2) 2 FTs 3) possession Gonzaga capitalized very well making the FTs and getting a 3PT. How were they only an 8 seed?? Injuries, now they're healthy? Ike only attempted 30 threes this year -- tonight, 3. Of course he made all 9 FTs.
The end of that game was completely unnecessary. Cryer and Uzan play around too damn much with the halfcourt line. It ain't your friend in that situation. Uzan was fouled by Battle on that late steal. Ike got every single damn foul call in that second half. They let em bump all the way down to the lane and as soon as he takes the shot they call THAT one. Sampson can't let the end of games slip away like that. In general, defense was pretty underwhelming today. That was not a Coogs game at all. I give Gonzaga credit but some of that was too easy. Offense played well until it didn't. The ability of the trap to work in college basketball never ceases to amaze me. Can you just recruit one guy on the roster with a slick handle that can break that nonsense, get upcourt as fast as possible, stop throwing it laterally - that's what the trap is designed to exploit. That was an annoying AF game. Super glad for the win.
I feel like Gonzaga is a better team than Purdue. From the tournament games I've seen, Gonzaga has quicker, more athletic players. I don't think Perdue will defend Sharp, Cryer, and Uzan as well as Gonzaga did tonight. But, we'll see... When I think of Purdue, my first thoughts are of their former coach with that insane combover.
i dont think purdue is all that great either but thats a team you have to respect. they are consistent as hell.
That one Coogs possession toward the end where ball was tipped out on the Zaga player that they choose to review should've been a foul to me. He clearly bumped Cryer prior to tipping it out. Their was way more contact there than any of the "fouls" on Ike on the other end.
"full court press breaker" was one of my favorite drills in HS practice, along with the "3 on 2, 2 on 1" fast break offense one
