Some decent names for top 30. Houston Texans DT Michael Hall Jr. (Ohio State) LB Edgerrin Cooper (Texas A&M) OT Travis Glover (Georgia State) CB Qwan'Tez Stiggers (CFL) DE Adisa Isaac (Penn State) LB Jamal Hill (Oregon) DE Mohamed Kamara (Colorado State) WR Javon Baker (UCF) OT Kingsley Suamataia (BYU) LB Jordan Magee (Temple) RB Ray Davis (Kentucky) DE Jalyx Hunt (Houston Christian) OT Roger Rosengarten (Washington) QB Spencer Rattler (South Carolina) S Javon Bullard (Georgia) DB Jaylin Simpson (Auburn) RB Isaac Guerendo (Louisville)
With an eye toward CJ & Area 51 extensions on the horizon, IMHO BDN needs to draft some productive & cheap talent in next 2 drafts. 2025 Needs RB WR OT IOL (2) IDL 2026 Needs WR TE OT IOL Edge IDL LB (2) CB SAF
I would go up for Banks. Not so much for Golden or even Booker. But wouldn't mind if either fell to us.
I can see your point. I'm thinking about where the Texans pick in the 2nd round. Jayden Higgins ran a 4.47 in the 40 at the combine and had better athletic measurables than Tee Higgins, Davante Adams, and Courtland Sutton. DK ran a 4.33, but there was a lot of concern on whether he could run a route tree. At the time DK was looked as a go route only WR.
I don't believe that's accurate. If memory serves, Sawyer was on the other side going against Cameron Williams. There's also this:
The knock on Norman-Lott is his run defense and tackling. And according to this source, his bench press is only at the 9%. Maybe those things can be fixed. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Omarr-Norman-Lott-DL-ArizonaState
Honestly, my hope is to get Banks with our first and then a high-quality OT with our second. I'm not sold on Higgins with our #2. I'd like to get at least two high-quality OL and three if we're lucky!
I don't know if I like the tiers either. I like Loveland, but I don't think he is needed. If the Texans draft a TE they need a blocking TE like Jackson Hawes who they could draft in the 4th or 5th round. I really like Zabel. He's got the talent to be the next Bruce Matthews. I know the Texans really like Booker, but he's going to be off the board at 25. Golden will most likely be off the board. Egbuka is not twitched up for a smaller receiver and I would wait for him in the 2nd round. Josh Simmons looked great on tape, but I'm not drafting a player who has not fully recovered from a major knee injury in the first round.. With Banks, I am not really impressed with his tape. To me he looks like he would be an average Right tackle in the league. Tier 1 WR Jayden Higgins Iowa State OG Grey Zabel North Dakota State OG Donovan Jackson Ohio State DB Will Johnson Michigan Tier 2 OT Aireontae Ersery Minnesota OT Kelvin Banks Texas DT Kenneth Grant Michigan CB Maxwell Hairston Kentucky Tier 3 WR Jaylin Noel Iowa State OT Josh Conerly Oregon RB TreVeyon Henderson Ohio State
If we want a WR and OL, we’ll have to trade up to the top of the second for the one we didn’t draft in the first. A developmental WR that’ll take a few years isn’t going to help. Nico hasn’t played a full season and Kirk hasn’t since 2022
Egbuka is 6-1, 205, ran a 4.3-40 and caught more passes at Ohio State than anyone in the history of their program. He is smooth and polished and will definitely be picked in the 1st. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Emeka-Egbuka-WR-OhioState
