When I look at the replay on this play, he appears to look at the runner just before he catches it, he will learn from this. Am I a tad bit nervous, yes, but he is a pro and will learn from this. I am nervous that we have 5 more years of trying to find a place for him, playing in the OF and with a runner on third they will test him and in theory this could cost us a few games which could be huge but at this point I am speculating, I want it to work but I hope they have short leash on this experiment, personally I would keep him at second, he wasn't great but he also didn't seem to cost us a game..........One week from today folks, I have my tickets for next weekend and could not be more stoked
nobody said that I just said looking at these averages looks like it’s going to be a long season and last year I’m pretty sure we left a lot on base so I know the average means nothing. Show me the average of the team with risp. I know from watching that we left a lot on base last year. I hope that’s not the case this year but hey time will tell and we can revisit this convo again.
Astros tied for the 6th best BA with RISP at .267. https://www.baseball-reference.com/tools/split_stats_lg.cgi?full=1¶ms=bases|RISP|ML|2024|bat|AB| The Astros did leave a lot of runners on base, and ranked 26th in that category with 6.91 LOB/game. However, the two teams that made the WS were ranked 28th (Yankees, 7.01) and 30th (Dodgers, 7.12). https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/team-left-on-base-per-game?date=2024-10-31
You leave a lot of runners on base (and hit into a lot of double plays) when you get a lot of runners on base. The best teams in the league usually finish high in both those categories.
If Cam and Dezenzo are really ready, we are cooking with gas this season. I'm cautiously optimistic. Cam, Dezenzo, Walker, and Paredes > Bregman, part-time Tucker, Singleton, worst season of his career Chas.
Why is VanWey starting? Do you think Brown might try to stretch him ala Blanco? That would be a crazy story if that happened. A career relief pitcher that the Astros took a flyer on after a Div II and Independent league career starting for a contending team.
Hader seems to some serious command issues. He's walking people left and right. I hope he's just working on some pitches at the corners.
Yeah, this is exactly why I was against those wanting to trade Framber this season. All it takes is another injury now and/or one of the back end of our rotation struggling and we would be screwed without him. Would be cool if LMJ stays healthy but can’t count on that.
