Love how Carter is one of the better defensive centers in the league and in both games took him out of the equation 6 minutes in. Isaac shadowed Sengun's minutes and neutralized him briefly but then Orlando said we good.

I like that. The more Sengun sees that coverage of the Chuck Hayes types, the more he will figure them out. Only 22, several years to go before hitting his prime!

 

True, but he looks like the same player this year as last, I would like to see a 3pt shot - he is certainly capable of doing it.

I also would like to see that, and to bring up FT% to about 80% instead of 70%. I actually think he did improve his midrange, opponents respect his midrange shot. I believe the other two will follow.

I'm not so sure there is a lot that's going to change there. He is a fairly smart defender already - maybe he can tweak his verticality a bit and try not to get caught with his hands up yet leaning(instant foul) a bit more but the more glaring defensive issues with him are because of the lack of foot speed. Good pick and roll teams with rim running centers can really expose Sengun because he isn't quick enough to switch on to the ball handler but his length gives him limited ability to contest and recover and he often has a hard time recovering back to the rim runner. Lesser players can get easy buckets on him if they have a ball handler who is smart enough to stretch Sengun outside of that relatively small space of ground he can control and recover within.

Before SoFs come for me - I don't think Sengun is a bad defender, but I think he can definitely be exposed in certain matchups so I'm eyeing teams like the Warriors, Clippers, Lakers, and Nuggets as potentially difficult matchups if a team were to focus on exploiting Sengun(although they could choose one on one muscling over Jalen instead)
