It's tough changing teams and systems in mid-season. I wasn't rooting for this signing, but he was best LT left on market. Ensures we're covered at LT, RT and swing T before the draft, that I like. Looks like $2.5m in incentives, so he should hopefully be motivated and its one year deal. Solid signing ( I hope ).
Yesh, the guy who spent millions of dollars to build a balsa wood and asbestos filled mansion on a toxic waste dump should be *praised* for starting over with a cardboard box lean-to in a back alley, right?
Are you serious? Sounds like a downgrade. Yikes, we already have close to the worst line in the league.
Robinson isn't as bad as it looks. It's difficult being an OL and getting traded mid season. Continuity is a big thing. Judge him by his Jags stats.
cam robinson has only ever played LT in the NFL, also we paid him left tackle money, not guard money.
I'm just worried our O Line will be bottom tier again. I hope not. Not sure how common it is for rookies to step right in, start, and do better than our weakest guys.
Gotta hope the new OC and staff can coach these guys up. The Texans are not done adding to the line, so I will be patient. There is not a chance in hell they don’t know how important it is to get this right.
I wasnt saying you were wrong, just that the data doesnt jive with other pass blocking data. Here is what the robot says (probably what Caserio does) Grok: Spoiler To determine whether Cam Robinson was an above-average pass blocker in the 2024 NFL season, we can look at available data and metrics from reliable sources, focusing on his performance as a left tackle. "Last year" refers to the 2024 season, given the current date of March 19, 2025. Cam Robinson played for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Minnesota Vikings during the 2024 season before becoming a free agent in 2025. His pass-blocking performance can be assessed using statistics like pressures allowed, pass block win rate, and Pro Football Focus (PFF) grades, which are commonly used to evaluate offensive linemen. From available data: While with the Jaguars in 2024, Robinson allowed 16 pressures on 226 pass-blocking snaps. This translates to a pressure rate of approximately 7.1%, which was noted as the 8th-lowest among left tackles with at least 100 pass-blocking snaps during that span. A lower pressure rate indicates better pass protection, suggesting he performed well relative to his peers in this period. After being traded to the Vikings midseason, Robinson maintained solid performance. In six games with Minnesota, he earned a 77.6 PFF pass-blocking grade and was charged with only one sack allowed. PFF grades above 70 are generally considered above average, with elite performance typically exceeding 80. However, there’s conflicting sentiment: one source claims he allowed the most pressures (64) among all eligible offensive linemen in 2024, ranking him last (560th out of 560). This figure seems inconsistent with other data points, as it would imply a much higher pressure total than the 16 reported from his Jaguars stint alone, possibly aggregating his full season or including an outlier methodology. Without full snap counts or context, this claim is difficult to reconcile but suggests inconsistency or a decline at some point.
The line has to be rebuilt. It's not going to be a one year fix. I see Nick doing what he did with a lot of the rest of the team. Get rid of some of the contracts that were limiting what we could do. Sign some vets to one year deals. Draft some prospects. Invest in free agency when the time is right and we have cap space. I'm interested to see where this goes. I do not view Caserio with a fixed mindset like some of you do. He's aware of problems with the line and the personnel decisions that led to those problems. He's had enough success elsewhere that I trust that the Texans will analyze what went wrong and make adjustments accordingly. Believe it or not, people do learn from their mistakes. If his talent evaluation was awful across the board then I might feel otherwise. But I trust that they won't simply do the same things they did before.
Caserio will probably try to add one impact OL through the draft. With the other signings and better coaching the OL if healthy should be better next year.
