My concern is that they'll get cheap in the draft too and that CJ will again play behind a garbage line.
We are replacing experienced FAILURE with a big price tag with uncertainty. But at least we aren't insane hoping for better results with proven failure. The draft isn't much more of a risk than what we got last year.
Don't know OP's intent, but I interpreted it as trading back or finding a "solution" in the later rounds. I think finding talent later in the draft is an ok strategy, but I have not really seen that when it comes to the OL & BDN. I think Patterson is ok as a late round OL, but he doesn't scream Pro Bowl or All-Pro IMHO.
Didn't think that was Cap's style... I thought he wanted more quick, gap penetrators (giggity) That being said, bring me Zeek (Biggers) BDN!
Restructured Howard.. says 2 things: 1. We in on Tytus moving forward, dunno if that’s at LT and RT, but I’m starting to think Caserio had this all planned since he got Blake fisher last year (knowing he was gonna drop Tunsil) because no one saw the Fisher draft coming. 2. Another 11 mil for this year, bringing us up to 28-30 mil.. already got 9mil coming for new drafted guys so that’s like 25mil for someone. New guard? Diggs? I dunno, but I had this weird feeling we were gonna trade for someone. So maybe taking on a salary?
It's hard not to get "negative" when you dump Tunsil and don't replace him with a legit player BUT I have faith in Nick and Demeco, there is a long way to go before camp starts. No way this can be the end result, and I think we see at least 2 starting additions via FA and Draft. I also think coaching is going to be a big factor, give me 5 guys who are consistent................the bar is low my friend and we need to start raising it. This time of year sucks for sports and when I listen to sports radio some people are so negative (Clint on 610) but dam, its March and we have time, let Nick do his thing. Now, if we end up trotting these 5 guys out there and they suck a$$, I will be pissed then but for now, I am going to sit back and let the team do its thing
Cooper, Hernandez, Diggs and call it a day. =) I really hope so. I wouldn't mind using the Diggs contract experiment on a couple of Jets Guards whose contracts expire this season. Give them a 3rd rounder for John Simpson see if he likes Houston. Fields doesn't need an O-line. He's going to break off 15 yard runs with or without an O-line. Rooks don't sign contracts until Julyish. By then, you can use the savings from the Mason cut to pay the rookies. They have all that 28-30 mill to play around with.
