Dana knows player evaluation. He still has a lot to learn about PR and negotiations, but there is no doubt he knows what a good player looks like.
Is that Sullivan in center on that catch? I swear if you told me that was Meyers I would have believed it. His mannerisms and gait are very similar.
Haha. Not that rare. All you really are showing is there are no trends. What is rare is great players and predicting them is next to impossible
What’s the status on Alonso Treadwell and the pitcher we drafted last year in the 2nd/3rd who had TJS?
Tredwell should be healthy but his stock is way down after he didn’t look very good when he pitched last season. Forcucci had surgery last June so he probably won’t pitch this season.
https://www.mlb.com/astros/news/hou...-prospect-report-2025?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Annual mlb.com article about the system. Not very much there. Good that Cristian Gonzalez is being talked about again. Deep sleeper with a high ceiling who should be in High A with a chance to break out and make real noise if he gets to AA.
Todays notes from the Astros Dev Twitter: Wilmy Sanchez up to 96 Joan Ogando up to 99 Brice Matthews hits a 414’ homer If Ogando is hitting 99 at age 20 he could end up with some 101-103 mph heat by the time he gets to the majors.
Pitching is everything, as long as you have pitching you've got a chance. Also Gomez is another guy that has a chance to be a star level player and maybe even the starting CF in 2026.
DSL ST started this week. Cristopfer Gonzalez still looks skinny as hell and obviously has not been brought to the US yet. Dude looks like Wemby out there.
I don't mind a wiry guy in baseball, but 6'5 167lbs seems a little extreme. Players with that profile just don't exist on the position player side.
Right, and he’s already 19. Dude needs to hit the buffet line thrice daily this season if he wants any chance.
That's almost certainly his weight at signing (at 17). Those numbers are not routinely updated. I assume he'll be fine after a few years in professional nutrition/weight-lifting program.
Darryl Strawberry 6'6" 190 lbs Elly De La Cruz 6'5" 200 lbs Cristopfer Gonzalez at 19 has a chance to add his "freshman 15" as he fills out. BTW, I am calling it. Cristopfer Gonzalez will be the next Astros All Star, a cross between Strawberry and De La Cruz
Is this a funny way of saying that once Cristopfer Gonzalez gets stateside, he will have easy access to the SAD? A McDonalds on every corner!
Texas chicken fried steak with country gravy and sides of mashed potatoes and fried okra. That kid will be 200 lbs. in no time. Although he will need a script for Lipitor
Astros cleared another dozen roster spots today, placing 11 guys on the 60-day/full season IL and releasing OF Korey Morton. IF Narbe Cruz, IF Camilo Diaz, and a group of pitchers, most notably Nolan DeVos, Joey Dixon, and Ryan Mathieson were all placed on the IL. The Astros should now be under the 165 player domestic minor league maximum. In addition to Wilton Lara, there should be a handful of DSL guys who have come over to the FCL.
