Well then you might have to salary dump or waive him at some point for nothing if you hold onto a player too long that rides the pine and that leads to the suggestion that he’s problematic. I think Cam has star potential and hope that he nets 40 unprotected firsts…. But have we learned nothing about overvaluing our players that need to be moved and then later on taking next to nothing because Stone was stubborn on his prior asking price??? Do you guys not remember Eric Gordon?? What’s your house worth???… what someone is willing to pay for it. You set the price above the market, it sits, diminishes further costing you more payments and upkeep, and ultimately you have to dump it after months of it bombing out on the MLS. Fourty first rounders or two second rounders… I dunno… but if you aren’t going to play Cam next season a considerable amount, this summer you need to take the best offer you can get or I’m telling you guys… the rockets will get nothing for him sooner than later. … then he’ll bounce around teams a couple of times because they have such low commitment at that point until he finally sticks or is out of the league. This isn’t my first time following the NBA guys… Cams story thus far isn’t a far stretch into the imagination.
Are you making the case that the rockets got maximum value for Eric Gordon by waiting two additional trade deadlines to move him?
Eric Gordon did not have a massive amount of value. Maybe the 25th pick if the Rockets didn't wait. I'd guess Cam could easily be dealt for better than a 25th pick and a 30th pick. Unless you think Eric Gordon was fetching a lottery talent if the Rockets didn't wait, the Rockets likely have more value in Cam than they would have from the 2023 30th pick and dealing Gordon 2 years prior.
Yeah, there are teams that will see how he has done in NBA games and want him, even Lebron has talked about his potential. So, if that is the case, and he isn't going to get a shot here, we should move him. If, however, he blows up elsewhere, Stone will be fired for making the wrong choice, it is literally HIS JOB to get it right. If Cam becomes better than Jalen for instance, Stone is a goner. DD
The Rockets are currently the 2nd seed in a loaded West. Well it was loaded before teams just gave up when the going got rough. I think Stone's job is very secure right now as the roster is loaded with talent.
Do you really take anything DD says seriously? I think we are going to lose a lot of games down the stretch, but Stone and Ime are completely safe, although if the offense doesn’t improve next year, I would say it gets iffy.
We’ll see. As I said I hope Cam nets the rockets 40 first rounders and 30 pick swaps. The market for players like him though isn’t always crystal clear. The good news is there are quite a few teams with no clear avenue to retool with high lotto picks to supplement their aging rosters with young talent. So I do think Cam would be appealing to a lot of those Laker/Philly/GSW type of teams but is he valued beyond “take a flyer” talent or is he valued on par with typical “star potential” talents?? I know DD has never been more sure of anything else in his life, but I’m just being realistic here that past history tells another story. Either way this summer it’s time to find him a better opportunity and get the rockets as much back as they can get.
I was one of the very few people that was high on amen when he was drafted, when most of clutchfans thought he was going to be a bust. I was also right about Jabari just being an average Jabroni when y’all thought he was going to be a star. I am almost just as high on cam than I am with amen Thompson. They could be a similar tandem to tatum and brown. Whitmore is better than Jalen. They’re going to regret trading him in the offseason.
Different time lines.....Whitmore probably needs another 3-5 years but the Rockets don't have that time with Ime. Maybe he is the next Jalen Brunson but Brunson exploded when he was already 25-26. The intermediate 3-4 years he needs to start right away on a worse team.
This is a bit of nonsense - we aren't a contender as assembled, and you know it. We aren't going to be favorites even if we get the 2nd seed, our team and our style don't work in the playoffs. Stone will be fired if anyone we trade becomes all world, and he should be - his literal job is to choose wisely....not aim for a "Play harder" close to the chip squad. FFS having to explain things to people here who struggle with context is exhausting......I said IF CAM blows up and is better than Jalen, Stone will be fired....NOT THIS ****ING YEAR.......but in the future.....reading is apparently NOT fundamental, or reading comprehension isn't. AND ANOTHER ONE - I said I have no idea if Cam is any good, but that we need to find out so we can make an informed decision - that part I am sure of...... READ and THINK people....Puhlease!!! DD
I had Amen number 2 on my board......and agree with you - but I want the org to find out. Realistically we aren't a contender yet, we should be playing all 7 of our developing players every game they are healthy......it is stupid to not do that and to play journeyman like Tate or Holiday, as anything more than a 3rd tier stop gap. It is bad roster management....which is what I am saying. DD
Don't take too much stock into what double d is fear mongering about what happen if Whitmore might get traded. He said the similar things about kpj and look how that panned out. We are in an intense race for seeding. Ain't no one got time to give Whitmore mins to do stupid sht when he has not earned it and isn't a team player with his pouting a$$.
