I would not hate having him back. But my question is. None of that payout goes towards any upcoming offer correct??
Stefon Diggs "ahead of schedule" in recovery from torn ACL; already running "full speed," per Mike Reiss.
All of this is great, but he still won't be completely right until next off-season at the earliest. It's just the way this stuff goes.
[Schefter] ESPN Sources: Free-agent WR Stefon Diggs reached agreement on a three-year, $69 million deal including $26 million guaranteed with the New England Patriots.
So only one year is guaranteed? If so, no way he collects $69 million. If he does well enough, Pats will cut and resign him at a lower salary next summer. Otherwise, they will just cut him. Getting $26 million guaranteed is great for Diggs and it's very low risk for the Pats.
He basically got franchise tag type money. Crazy for coming off an acl. He can do less pizza deliveries now
In hindsight, sure, but IMO we needed him, and he needed us, and he was a model citizen. It was a roll of the dice and we came out on the short end, can't really put the "blame" on anyone, injuries suck and come at the worst time. IMO the Pats have a ton of cap space (ala Texans last year) and they overpaid, basically a one-year deal for $26 million and then restructure if it works out but no way would I have wanted to Nick to sign this deal, not with the injury
