C Michael Deiter did well enough with the Commies this past season that they re signed him. But he didn’t play SEC ball so Nick let him walk.
We have the worst OL in the league. We might pick up a quality OL via FA to help, but our best chance is through the draft. I believe we can draft 4 quality linemen and significantly improve that unit for both this season and seasons to come.
It's worth repeating, that we are rebuilding the culture of the OL room. We are just beginning the new one by tearing down the old one. I believe the team of Caserio and Ryans is better than the sum of it's parts, so I give Nick a break for his first 2 years. But I have no doubt there will be plenty of new blood and new attitude in camp this year at OL. One of the reasons I believe Howard is still here is his willingness to shift to positions for the benefit of the team, even when it might not be best for him personally. But this is a take from as far outside of the OL room as possible for a fan of this team.
I just thought of a label for the OL rebuild. FROM DIVA TO DAWG! (I'm not screaming, just trying to see what I'm typing) When the DIVA hit's a sour note, they MUST BE REPLACED.
The funny thing is that was Tunsil’s favorite phrase to describe someone he liked, Dawg. When in fact he was a diva
Give me 2 -3 OL and a quality TE that can also block. If they're going with Howard at LT and dont draft Banks high, then I hope that they bring back Fant to be the swing OT.
Checking in on our boy Mayer... Consensus from Raiders fans is they don't want to lose him. However, if he's asking out then trade him. Dude reviews some FA and prospect TEs so there's some additional value in the video (e.g. Hunter Long Rams FA TE). With 2 3rds now, would you give one up for Mayer? I think I would if they would add in a 5th or 6th to sweeten the deal. Now if we could include Dalton in the deal, that would be even better.
I would trade 3-89 for Mayer. I would try to entice Spytek into Pierce/Metchie for Mayer 1st though, before I gave up 3-89.
Texans are not trading picks for a TE. They paid Schultz and drafted Stover. Jordan will be back. Other needs.
Fant was injured most of three of the last four years. We got his good season in 2023. I wouldn't mind another prove it deal.
Yeah, those guys suck You're probably right though. Also the OL will continue to suck until they get a TE that can block.
You may be right, but Caley is a TE lover and if he can get a guy he loves either via trade or draft I believe it could happen.
I think we're a year away from upgrading at TE. The current TE room is a smorgasbord of riches compared to the OL & WR rooms.
This is the year to draft a TE high. There are 3 very good ones. But you're probably right though in that they will wait a year even if they shouldn't. I'm a firn believer in drafting to the strengths of the draft. Also until Caserio adds a TE that can block the offense will continue to have issues.
