It helps curb tanking look at Portland trying to win so they can make the play in. Lets not act like East has always been an entire playin for years, I remember so many bad teams making the 8th seed back in the day
Phoenix is going to have trouble with Chicago. Sit and think about that for a minute. Also, sit and think about at the end of the season when they play the Spurs they probably lose because KD and Booker are already out of the lineup. If they don't get past Toronto and Chicago, the wheels are going to come off quickly You just saw Beal go down. You HAVE TO trade Durant. The only thing worse than trading Durant is trading a HURT Durant. What if he had to miss part of next season? No 1st, just salary dump. If he missed the whole next season you have to eat that contract. Ishbia is a dumb POS. I would have traded Durant at the deadline with his max value. I would have sat him after that and spent any expense to get him treated and in perfect physical condition including against his will.
This doesn't work but your heart is in the right place. I think like the 2nd Apron the NBA should create a draft penalty for tanking teams over a course of say 3 years. If you don't climb out of the basement after that, you don't lose the pick but you go to the back of the line. Detroit, Orlando, and Houston straightened their **** out but Wizards, Hornets, and maybe Jazz need to pay attention. I don't like the play in for the same reasons as the MLB season. 82 games is a grind over 6 months. That should count for something. It disgusts me that two losing teams in the East will make the playoffs. I don't think reseeding works or crossing over conferences. Maybe instead of the play in tournament being interconference have it be between losing teams for remaining slots. Hawks, Magic, Kings, Mavericks.
Yeah the play-in is stupid. Tired of the NBA's answer to everything being "nobody cares about the regular season let's just have more playoffs". Anyway, don't sleep on Portland's chances of passing Phoenix. They've been playing better lately and their schedule gets pretty soft at the tail end of the season, especially if LAL/GSW (their last two games) are already locked into their seeds and rest starters.
Silver did the standard "younger hip new guy takes over" thing from Stern. Cheapened everything. More points. More 3s. More playoffs. Stupid All Star formats. More tournaments. More politics. More draft days. The regular season feels like a formality at this point. Crazy that in the Premier League I can tune in to watch two bottom feeders and it's interesting. In the NBA I see the Celtics playing the Grizzlies...oh wait Morant, Tatum and JJJ are all sitting out. Also it's on ESPN so I have to hear Malika Andrews, SAS, Doris Burke and Richard Jefferson.
A Mavs fan posted this elsewhere on the Internet, so i think that this account is legit. I will look around to confirm. I can't imagine Davis playing in the G-League unless he is aiming to rejoin the Mavs soon.
Play-in is a joke. Tanking has gotten out of control. On the more points and more threes, that was coming with or without Silver. Silver has actually had refs hold their whistle more to try to help defenses. All all-star formats are stupid. I'd just prefer they cancel it. I like the in-season tournament. The regular season is long, and players don't care. I hate the courts, but it is nice seeing more intense games being played in December. More draft days? No one forcing people to watch those. I like the 1st round and watch that so it is still one-day for me. On announcers, I rarely listen to them during the season.
Mavericks send Anthony Davis to G League to prep for return The Dallas Mavericks have assigned Anthony Davis to the Texas Legends, allowing the 10-time All-Star to practice with the G League team and participate in 5-on-5 scrimmages as he ramps up to return from a strained left adductor. Davis, the headliner of the Mavs' return in the controversial Luka Doncic deal, has been sidelined since Feb. 8. He played 31 minutes in his lone appearance in a Mavs uniform, recording 26 points, 16 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 blocks before leaving early due to an injury. Sources said there has been discussion about shutting down Davis for the season, but the superstar has been steadfast in his determination to return. Guard Jaden Hardy, who has missed the last seven games due to a sprained ankle, has also been assigned to the Legends.
I read somewhere that the league was threatening to fine and investigate the mavs. Could stem from their recent history of tanking without the decency to attempt to make it look otherwise
I'd take this Rather Flagg end up out East if we don't somehow get him, but wouldn't hate seeing him go to Portland. If we got #2 it would be a tough choice between Harper, Bailey, and Edgecombe--but I'm on team Bailey rn
A good friend with some insider knowledge says there are rumors the Adelsons want to move the team to Vegas. I'm not sure how much credence to give it, but once Cuban sold controlling interest, he no longer has a say in the matter.
It is WIDELY speculated... way out in the open - especially because NBA quality facility is already there in Vegas.
