I didn't see a thread for the RB room so I hope this is ok. A draft prognosticator thinks will take a RB in the 3rd. I think it's possible if the right guy is there but I think we have greater needs at OL/WR. As well, we're pretty full there right now. But if Nick really likes a kid it's possible, right? https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/houston-texans-predicted-to-land-joe-mixon-replacement
Mixon will be 29 at the start of the season and going into his 9th season. For the most part he looked good last season, but its time to start looking. I don't know if I would do a third with all the other needs, but it all depends on who is there when the Texans pick. I would be more inclined to take a swing at a late round pick and see what happens. Plus the wheels have not fallen off Mixon just yet. I might would wait until next season before spending a higher pick on a RB.
Agree 100%. I wouldn't pick anything but an OL or WR in the third round, and unless there is an absolute steal at RB in the 4th, I wouldn't pick one there either. Next year, different story.
We currently have two picks in the third and none in the fourth as a result of the Laremy Tunsil trade. I agree with you. I think the top 5 picks should be OL & WR. We NEED 3-4 quality guys for the OL and two quality WR.
2022 Pierce back in effect. Can you imagine being Pierce. They switched to an entire offense he never grasped. Two years later, yeah, we're no longer doing that. He is always positive and has a good sense of humor about things.
WR depth is **** this year unfortunately. Unless the coaching team really sees a long term contributor with value late, I would pass.
We have a new OC, a new system, and different OL. Is there hope that Dameon Pearce is going to have a much bigger and better impact than in previous years?
Hoping for Blue/Smith/Tuten. Explosive rbs. Offense desperately needs a home run hitter. Any of those 3 can take a short pass and score. Also can help returning kicks
But might it be a wasted pick if Pearce really steps up in the new system? That's my concern. If we pick a RB in the first 5 rounds I think we can glean that there is no confidence in Pearce.
I feel that we have so many other, more pressing needs that I'm not in favor of picking a RB in the first 5 rounds. 7th round? Sure, no problem.
I'm with you there since we have Mixon. I'd rather see the top 3 picks target Online and WR, and the next two to a defensive lineman and good blocking TE. I'd rather go for a RB after those positions get addressed. Next year is a different story. I'd go for a RB in round 2 or 3 if there's a great prospect.
Depth that can score anytime the touch the ball and can be a 3rd down back is worth a 3rd rd pick IMHO. Imagine adding Achane to the backfield, would that be a waste? All of these guys are threats to score anytime they touch the ball. Blue just ran a 4.28 today and catches the ball/ blocks well. The Texans offense is missing game changers. These guys are game changers. I wouldn't complain at all if the draft fell like this. Mason Taylor - Fastest TE in the draft and a good blocker with good hands. I like Loveland too. Kyle Williams- Think Dell with his releases and runs a 4.4 with great hands. Bayshful Tuten- poor mans Jeanty, runs 4.32 can catch the ball, willing blocker, tackle breaker. Threat to score anytime he touches the ball. Well worth 3-79. Charles Grant developmental OT, very athletic, small school guy. These guys are game breakers who will provide the game breaking speed the offense has been lacking. Think playmakers, not positions.
