He is a very good defender and all stats, advanced stats show this. A one fool wrote a thread about his bad defense and we discus.. A team can not be #2 and in west, when its center does not defend well. Centers are backbones of defense. And still morons here say Sengun is bad defender. Sengun is top 5 in centers in NBA in defensive ratings. Learn stats, learn to analyze and then comment. This is not a direct reply to you, to the morons discussing Sengun's defense. Basketball is a sport of analytics, without looking at stats. Speaking is the result of idiots...
Other than personal achievements, a one All-Star appearance means nothing. Sengun puts forth the efforts but I'm leary on him becoming a Championship level defender, similar to an Al Horford
He won't! and why would he need to be? Horford is in the dpoy conversation every now and then. He never averaged 20 pts a season. Completely two different types of players. Sengun will also not have the guard skills of SGA, if you are leary about that. Unless you are an idiot, this comment just says, I will do anything to write something negative about Sengun.
I remain more worried about Sengun offensively than defensively. His defense is already fine, it's as good (or better) as it needs to be for him to be a star. His struggles are all on the offensive end, and so are the question marks about his future.
going further in the make up of the Def Rating: When posted up against, Sengun gives up .89 PPP* Less than the Eifel Tower and Lively but this should be obvious the way Sengun cuts through them like a knife trough butter on offense. PnR defense: " Bruh, they hide him! Please, don't give me facts!" Ok, But when he does get "hunted" and can't be hidden, he gives up .86 PPP Way less than Duren, Wemby and the same as the stick up kid, Jonathan Isaac .86. But I seen him not be able to stay in front of a Guard!!! Oh really? Just watch what happens to centers post 2014. When he gets isolated. .96 ppp* Anything below 1 is really good. For good measures: Draymond .40 ppp at age 50 lol, Hartenstein from Euguene, Oregon .69ppp/ Patrick Williams.90ppp/ Turner .96ppp) Always remember a recent quote by Ime on the Ross Villareal show about Cam: "He plays solid one on one defense but I tell him that's not how we play here." Stats for Bigs: He's also 7th in total Rebounds. 4th in steals. 4th in deflections. 7th in contested shots. 5th in box outs which all lead to that rating. It's not the plus minus stat. Paints a better painting. *Jalen Green shares some of those numbers.
It won’t be long, but this is just the first step. Next up is being the first Rockets player with 1k total threads in the GARM.
Sengun looking a bit sharper lately. I think he needs to decide what form he wants to use on his mid range jumpers and try to go to that one form more often. For example, if he’s going to do the flamingo then do that more consistently. If he’s going to do the little floater hook thing, then do that. If it’s going to be a push shot, then do that and etc. around the rim he seems to be better lately. Defensively, I don’t notice any massive problems. Sure some 7’2 athlete may cover up a little bit more. I would like him to take more three-point attempts. I’m OK with the percentage being low. I think he just needs to figure out where his hot zones are and let it rip.
Alperun is a great player but until he can shoot a basketball instead of throwing shotputs away from the rim the floor is his ceiling
I miss ATW, I liked his curated Twitter posts on this thread, particularly the what are they saying about Sengun posts. Other players on our team have super supporters, why can't Sengun have one? Come on peeps, someone needs to step up.
