I'm not a very big jabari stan, but I don't need EPM to tell me he is a much more effective role player than Cam Whitmore. I think his defense can be overrated by people here, he makes mistakes, can get overpowered, can't really handle small guards - but he at least TRIES hard and is willing to work to get better. The gulf between him and Whitmore in that regard is huge.
Isn’t life full of choices and decisions? Royce white would have been great if he made other choices. KPJ. Wood. Lol
Awesome tactical analysis as always. How big/small of a weight do you assign to shooting/spacing? Could we at times be running things perfectly well, but feel a drag on our ability to finish at an efficient rate anyway? I assume yes but wondering if we're watching a sort of stress-tested version of what we're capable of till at least one of Sengun/Amen can be a threat off the ball and not in the dunker's spot.
Easier for me to explain with video. Here's a couple of times last game where we set up side-line split-action, but still choose DHO over favorable slip/pop options (unpaused version of each play, followed by my commentary)
Thank you that was so clarifying, really needed the commentary too. It doesn't seem like our shooting is really the problem here as much as just needing to make some higher IQ choices.
HP, I appreciate the effort you are putting in to help us understand how the Rockets are playing. Props to you!
A lot of times the Rockets don't screen offball when they should. What I see is this offense simply doesn't shift defenses or creates a lot of open opportunities for our players. It's just simple actions that go nowhere with defenders continuing to pack the paint or come out on our screen and rolls. To this example, Tari could have gotten a pindown on that defender freeing up Green for a 3. Likewise Fred could have pin downed the corner defender for a Green baseline cut. He could have also slipped to get a pass from Sengun from the high post. Also Brooks could have come doen and screened on that 21 action. I just don't get the Rockets offense. To me it's not just the players, it's the coaching as well It seems they want to create one on one opportunities but this usually ends up going nowhere.
The execution was different in the 2 examples. FVV simply didn't come into that screen enough for Green to get the flare. So Green decided to go for the DHO. Uncle Jeff went into his guy and screened Holliday's guy allowing a flare to the wing.
I noticed Sengun often misses the cut/slip from the wing or perimeter/3 shooters. He had Fred on the slip and a guy on the right wing. The other play off the 21 action, Fred messed that up by not coming down more. Green also maybe wasn't patient enough and left a bit early for the DHO.
Doge is not a meritocracy it is a grift, Elon is protecting his own contracts, and is just willy nilly cutting not saving any actual money - it is dangerous to this country. As for silver? We need to trade some of it to reach Gold..... DD
